Authorities say a New Jersey man was arrested after racking up over 300 toll violations and failing to pay more than $20,000 in tolls and fees.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said in a statement that James Clicerio, of Old Bridge, New Jersey, was arrested on Thursday after failing to pay a toll at the Outerbridge Crossing connecting Staten Island and Pert Amboy.
Officials say Clicerio was driving a white Mercury SUV when he was pulled over and an officer discovered he had five EZ Pass accounts and 323 violations.
The fees and violations totaled $20,869.
It’s unclear whether Clicerio has an attorney who can comment on his behalf.
Clicerio faces larceny and obstructing governmental administration charges.

It’s apparent government has overstepped its bounds when one person can rack up $20,000 in toll charges.
Not so Mike. There are dishonest people who try to bypass the legal route. I had a license plate stolen from my county office after I had surrendered it when I sold a vehicle in 2011. Four years later I began to get letters from New Jersey and from New York saying I had run through toll booths without paying. They sent photos of the tag I surrendered affixed to cars I never owned and I had not been in the New York City area in over forty years. I went to my county Sheriff office and reported the situation and they put out a notice on the national network that the tag was stolen. Four days later a policewoman in New York pulled over a woman driver around 2:30 AM with the stolen plate. The plate was confiscated. The driver said it was on the car when she bought it. The case was closed but two months ago I got a citation from Wisconsin with similar notice about the same license plate. If I had paid the illegal fines they would have cost me around $300-$400. I never learned the fate of the woman driving with the stolen plate but hopefully it is all over now. So just be informed there are dishonest, lawbreaking low-lifes attempting to get something for nothing in this world. And for your information the government has NOT OVERSTEPPED ITS BOUNDS. Some low-lifes have overstepped the legal bounds. THEY are the problem. Seems like you are one of the ones trying to get something for nothing.
End tolls! Why not raise state income and property taxes to pay for roads bridges and highways?
Steve why should property owners be penalized and forced to pay for road repairs why not a higher sales tax so EVERYONE can feel the pain!!
Why punish property owners with higher taxes, why not raise the sales tax so ALL and EVERYONE can feel the pain!
Raise all state an federal taxes for everyone ….we can afford it …..even the ones who don’t drive or own a car ….even raise the price of tolls so we can take care of our neglected furry friends from the abuse they receive every day ….and not to mention our poor people who can’t eat every day because of our neglected welfare system
Your talking New Jersey, that will never happen. The new Jersey Turnpike and Gardenstate Parkway were supposed to be no tolls after they were paid for. Yet today they are some of the highest toll per mile in the country.
Politicians lie. I remember when my state didn’t have a sales tax. It was paid for by business taxes. Then in 1968 the politicians pushed for and got a 1 1/2 % sales tax “that would never go any higher.” Today it’s 7 3/4 %. Damned liberal politicians always find reasons to spend more money.
And this is unnessary for police to do. Ever wonder why cops get shot over the weekend? Thats why!!
Yeah the reason police Officer are being shot is that we have a cowardly Justice Department and a president who is too quick the blame cops for his administrations lack of leadership as well as a media that likes to blame the messenger rather than the criminal who they try to make into hero’s!
Put this dirt bag under the jail until he pays up!!! Just for those who don’t understand priorities in law enforcement, you don’t necessarily go hunting for this type of person unless they are a violent felon. The will eventually be caught as he was all in due time. This is how people with massive parking violations can rack up 50,000.00 in parking tickest.
We have bad management in this country, make them foot the bill, cut their salaries take away their perks and if all of that doesn’t work, fire them on the spot by a vote of no confidence.
I’m not a fan of tolls But I also don’t like paying for roads I don’t use. It’s the people who use these toll roads to tell the ass’s running the commission tolls are to high and do something about it. I’ve driven on toll roads ia NY You are not getting your money’s worth, the roads are terrible
I am always amazed at the selfish people that want to raise ‘other people’s’ taxes’.
Why shouldn’t the people who benefit from and use the roads pay for them?
