Major Trump ally suddenly betrays him mid-impeachment

The top political allies of Donald Trump seem to be abandoning the former president one by one as they eye their own potential presidential runs in 2024.

But the timing of this latest break — right in the middle of Trump’s second impeachment trial — has raised eyebrows in the cutthroat political world of Washington, D.C.

On Friday, former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley became the latest former ally to attack Trump.

Haley had a scathing interview with Politico where she said she was “angry” and “disgusted” by her former boss.

“We need to acknowledge he let us down,” Haley said. “He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him.”

“We can’t let that ever happen again,” she said. Haley attacked Trump for breaking with former Vice President Mike Pence after the election and his statements during the Jan. 6th Stop the Steal rally.

“When I tell you I’m angry, it’s an understatement. I am so disappointed,” She said. “The loyalty and friendship he had with Mike Pence, that he would do that to him. Like, I’m disgusted by it.”

When asked if she even still considers Trump a friend, Haley dodged the question.

“Friend is a loose term,” she reportedly told Politico.

Haley isn’t the first potential 2024 Republican presidential front-runner to break with Trump.

There was the aforementioned Pence break with Trump after the election.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-T.X., attacked Trump as “reckless and irresponsible” during a Feb. 2nd interview.

And even longtime allies not considering a 2024 presidential run have left the Trump orbit. The former president’s longtime Attorney General, William Barr, resigned over Trump’s claims of mass voter fraud in December.
