Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein had hoped that a strong showing in the 2016 election would catapult the Greens into becoming a major political third party.
But now it looks like Stein and her running mate are being fitted for handcuffs and mugshots instead.
A North Dakota judge issued a warrant Wednesday for the arrest of Stein, who is accused of spray-painting construction equipment during a protest against the Dakota Access pipeline.
Court records show Stein was charged Wednesday in Morton County with misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and criminal mischief. The same charges have been filed against her running mate, Ajamu Baraka.
Stein campaign spokeswoman Meleiza Figueroa could not immediately comment on whether Stein plans to turn herself in.
But Stein seemed to be reveling in her five minutes of criminal fame, retweeting stories about it from her official Twitter account.

Activists invited Stein to leave a message at the protest site near the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s reservation on Tuesday, Figueroa said, and Stein sprayed “I approve this message” in red paint on the blade of a bulldozer. A court document shows Baraka painted the word “decolonization” on a piece of construction equipment.
Morton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Rob Keller said the warrant has been filed and if authorities were to come across Stein, “they would arrest her.”
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is trying to stop construction of a section of the $3.8 billion four-state pipeline that tribal leaders say would violate sacred and culturally sensitive grounds and possibly pollute water.
Before the charges were filed, Stein said in a statement said she hoped North Dakota authorities “press charges against the real vandalism taking place at the Standing Rock Sioux reservation: the bulldozing of sacred burial sites and the unleashing of vicious attack dogs.”

Unless something radically changes between now and the election, I would not vote for Clinton unless I was convinced that my vote would decide what would otherwise be a tie between her and Trump and that whoever won in Colorado would be the ultimate winner. Fascism and Communism are birds of a feather, they are both Populist Socialist Movements. I, too, lived in Phoenix for many years, I was also a Campground Host for the Coconino National Forest. While acting as a Host (in a remote location) I got amoebic dysentery (beaver fever), three days of overflowing at both ends had left me pretty weak. Two White Mountain Apaches had been visiting the area and heard about my problem. They suggested (and offered) peyote to kill the parasites, giving me 6 gelcaps filled with ground up dried buttons; the dysentery ended by the next day. They asked for nothing in return.

I have more than a little difficulty believing that spraying paint on the working surface of a dozer blade is remotely harmful or destructive to the equipment. Only an idiot would not realise that the blade will scour clean and shiny after about ten feet of pushing dirt. It does NOT MATTER! Federal law Title 18, section 2071 paragraphs a) & b) proscribe the penalty for acts she DID commit in the falsification and destruction of data, the intelligence breaches and the private email server hacking plus trying to cover it up and the lies about what she KNEW and did not about the events at Benghazi is imprisonment for not more than 3 years or a fine or both and permanent loss of any elective or appointive U.S. government position in perpetuity. All forms of govt can be dangerous to the citizens or subjects they govern, or rule as the case maybe. Our govt is supposed to be doing what they do based on consent of the governed. Over a long, long period far too many elected and appointed officials have abandoned, if they ever had it, a sense of being public servants and now consider themselves as elected rulers. They are party hacks and represent the party to the people instead of representing the people in the process called government. They are supposed to be our messengers to govt but instead are govts messengers to the voters. And the message they are sending is we arte not under the law and here is a list of things we will give to our kind if you vote for us. We will now give rights to homosexuals, to men to use women’s toilets, we will bomb Libya because the arab league asked O to “:help” them out, but won’t protect our own in Benghazi, and immigrants are more important than citizens. I understand the outrage at the contractor and wanting to retaliat, however, repaying disrespect with disrespect is rarely an effective response. Stein should have taken higher ground and sought legal injunctions. Native American ground is supposed to be legally protected. This was a Trump-like response. The private security company the used barbaric tactics should be jailed and fined with expensive monetary fees and made to pay for any and all injuries as well as any licenses revoked permanently. Wallet abuse is usually effective.
If there is so much oil there, why not build a refinery there, instead of a pipeline. That way when there is a storm in the gulf we will at least have one refinery still running.
In every major pipe linfeI have been involved in during construction, we had indians standing by to check on any and all possible remains finds….sometimes it would take a couple days in order to get back to putting in the pipe…This is just a enviro hug trying to get attention….the pipe is not going to harm a single animal or plant and in a couple years it will just blend in……
