They promised “Never Trump” and spent millions in attack ads against him. But the Republican party establishment failed to stop brash billionaire Donald Trump’s message from resonating with voters.
Now, it looks like mainstream Republicans are coming around on Trump and are rallying around a new idea — “Never Hillary.”
On Capitol Hill, former GOP rivals to Trump seemingly have begun offering pledges of loyalty in closed door meetings — even outspoken critic, House Speaker Paul Ryan.
Donald Trump brushed off his former critics Wednesday, declaring he doesn’t need Ryan or other leery Republican leaders, even as he prepared to sit down with them. His defiant message came amid new signs that he might be right, with GOP voters becoming more willing to embrace him.
“If we make a deal, that will be great,” Trump told Fox News Channel when asked about Thursday’s meeting with Ryan, who has so far refused to endorse him. “And if we don’t, we will trudge forward like I’ve been doing and winning all the time.”
Trump’s allies and advisers echoed his contention that he can claim the White House with or without leading congressional Republicans, who continue to express reservations about his tone and inconsistent policy prescriptions. Their public differences are overshadowing Trump’s efforts to broaden his political appeal as the next phase of the 2016 contest begins.
Meanwhile, more Republican voters appear to be moving behind Trump, despite big-name holdouts such as Ryan, both former president Bushes and the party’s 2012 nominee Mitt Romney.
Almost two in three Republican-leaning voters now view Trump favorably, compared to 31 percent who view him unfavorably, according to a national Gallup Poll taken last week. The numbers represent a near reversal from Gallup’s survey in early March.
“Despite the contentious primary process, the party is healing itself and scabbing over,” said Republican pollster Greg Strimple.
Ryan insisted Wednesday that Republican Party unity is paramount, even if he’s not yet willing to endorse the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee.
“What we’re trying to do is be as constructive as possible and have a real unification,” Ryan said at a Capitol Hill news conference. “We have to be at full strength to win this election.”
Trump is to meet with Republican leaders Thursday morning at the Republican National Committee headquarters. The private meetings represent his first tangible steps toward repairing his strained relationships with the nation’s most powerful elected Republicans.
While Thursday’s meetings may highlight party divisions, Trump’s team sees them as a win-win.
They’d like to secure Ryan’s support, but believe that signs of continued opposition from congressional Republicans would simply reinforce his outsider appeal. Additionally, Trump’s team doesn’t believe Ryan or the GOP’s other congressional leaders have any significant influence on the majority of general election voters.
“Donald Trump is unifying the party already,” said Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, Trump’s chief Washington ally. “The party is the people who vote.”
New York Rep. Chris Collins, also a Trump supporter, said the billionaire businessman would be stronger with Ryan’s support, “but frankly, Donald Trump is going to win regardless of who supports him and who doesn’t support him.”
Wednesday night, Trump’s campaign released an endorsement signed by the chairs of seven House committees. “It is paramount that we coalesce around the Republican nominee, Mr. Donald J. Trump,” the GOP lawmakers wrote.
While Trump’s team is prepared to shrug off much of the party’s establishment, that does not include the Republican National Committee.
The political novice plans to rely heavily on the committee’s expansive political operation to supplement his bare-bones campaign, which has so far ignored seemingly vital functions such as voter data collection, swing-state staffing and fundraising infrastructure.
“As we turn our focus toward the general election, we want to make sure there’s the strongest partnership,” said Sean Spicer, the Republican National Committee’s chief strategist.
Absent a viable Republican alternative, there were new signs on Capitol Hill that Trump’s conservative critics were beginning to fall in line.
“As a conservative, I cannot trust Donald Trump to do the right thing, but I can deeply trust Hillary Clinton to do the wrong thing every time,” said Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., adding that he would vote for Trump if that’s the choice he has.
Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho., said he will support Trump, although “I’m not enthusiastic about it.”
“He can get us enthusiastic if he comes to talk to us,” continued Labrador, who is part of the House’s conservative “Freedom Caucus.” ”These are the people who are going to go out to the districts that he needs to win overwhelmingly so he can win the nominations.”
Trump on Thursday is to meet first with Ryan and RNC chairman Reince Priebus, then have a second meeting with Ryan, this time with his House leadership team. Trump is also expected to meet with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other top Senate Republicans.
Another Trump supporter, Rep. John Fleming, R-La., predicted it was “very unlikely” that Ryan would not ultimately back the Republican nominee.
“He wants to unify the Republican Party, and it all sort of begins tomorrow,” Fleming said of Ryan.

Sanders will not get the nomination. The Democratic Party is as corrupt as the old guard Republican Party. The Republican’s are revolting, this is why Trump is winning among the people. Democrats will have to do the same, looks like you have too many that like to “drink the poison” as they say. The Clinton’s were promised this election, nothing you can do.
Jon Exner says
You are correct about both the democratic and the republican establishment or as I like to refer to them as “the aristocratic political elite” that is how they act.
*
But I have to take issue with you and others as to trump being the answer. I truly believe that if trump is elected there will be a lot of surprises and a lot of people who will be disappointed and regret they voted for him and not for Senator Cruz.
*
Just this morning I read an article where trump was asked about veterans benefits and if he supported them, his answer was astounding, NO, but then the author of the article thought maybe he misunderstood the question or the Veterans benefits.
*
Either way at least in my view, this guy is not on the same level as the average American. I hope I am wrong and he does what he promised to do with the wall and the handling of the illegal alien invaders and begin to put American citizen/workers ahead of foreigner both legal and illegal.
Shirley says
Don’t you think you should do more research before opening your mouth and saying something that is wrong? It only starts a bad rumor…but then that is probably what you Wanted to do anyway! Not clever at all and an old trick used by MANY uninformed people!
AS Trump has ALWAYS supported the vets!
jwb says
UNLESS YOU WERE A POW
Big Hal says
Yes he supports POWs. The issue was, should POWs be called Heros just because they were captured. I’m retired Army and don’t considered myself a Hero because I went to war. The Heros are those that lost their lives or saved lives of others by their actions.
Vincent Davis says
Yes do your research, Trump has always supported the vets!!!
Lou says
He sure has so he’s out to help are military after all if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have are live .they are all HERO’S. In my book they should be the first thing on the list.
donttreadonme says
Trump has said repeatedly that the Vets have been treated horribly and that the VA is corrupt. What’s not to understand? Trump’s rise is astounding! It has set the Old Republican Guard on it’s heels. Trump is feared by these old do nothing bureaucrats that could lose their cushy strongholds in government. Trump has exposed the GOP for what it really is and they hate him for it. Their opposition isn’t about ideology. It’s about money and power.
Louis says
Jon Exner, You make some very good points. My perception is that those who support Trump are a distinct minority (probably the only minority holding a favorable opinion of Trump). There are many more who say that they are for Trump only because they are so much against the other candidates. It is a shame that our political system has presented such poor choices for this year. It is not all the fault of the parties, though. The whole process of selecting candidates is such a miserable thing to go through that a person would have to be crazy to want to participate. Consequently, we are forced to choose from a group of people who are crazy.
Rick Worthington says
So, Louis – millions of people who are currently behind Trump – not to mention the great number who are currently swinging his way, are in the “minority”? However, you are correct about the political system which is so corrupt it’s not funny.
Let’s just wait and see – right now I’d go with The Donald – if only to try and stop Hillary Clinton – who would be the worst possible Candidate for the W.H. that could be imagined…Put it this way – her immoral actions, her untruthful speeches, her many allegedly dishonest dealings throughout her political life and also the investigations by the FBI surely should make her an unworthy person for POTUS.
As a word of warning – anybody who THREATENS the Establishment, such as The Donald is doing – especially a corrupt Establishment – he / she is likely to be demonized, threatened, lied about and otherwise place in a ‘poor light’. This has happened in many other countries over the last decades…with some being imprisoned or even killed the euphemism here is usually being said to have ‘disappeared.’ Sometimes even being disposed of ‘accidently’ as in a car-crash, airplane disaster, or ‘suicide’!
Anyway – watch this space!

Ted Cruz will never be a President of the United States…. If it is not Donald then it will HRC Or Brenie

Steve says
Jon, you heard wrong. Trump stands behind Veterans and benefits for our Vets 100%, as a matter of fact he hates the fact that Illegal immigrants are getting treated better in America that our Veterans do !! And if I hear the name Cruz one more time I’m going to hurl !!!!
Lou says
Why are we talking about Cruz he’s out of the game
Sharon says
Vote for lying ted. Are you crazy. He is another bush. Look at his backers. The Cruz are for nau and is wife was a member of the CFR. He voted for TPA. And there’s a lot more research before you open your mouth. His voting record is second worse to macro rubio. They both don’t like to work. Lits of absence votes.
JINH says
Cruz is out and we need to accept that. Having said this, we need to embrace Trump and realize he’s now the only hope for our country. Illegal aliens, Syrian refugees, vetting reduced to 3 mos. under Ovomit, weakened military, non-support of our men and women in uniform – all the legacy of Ovomit’s destruction. Let’s unite behind Trump and walk this different path he foresees for America. We must put him in the WH. If not, it’ll be a 3rd term for this administration with no point of return for our country.
Rick Worthington says
Hear, hear! You got it in one JINH – The Donald is really the only one any thinking person could vote for…all the other Candidates, Cruz et al, are out of it entirely…and absolutely no one, Democrat or otherwise, would possibly vote for Hillary Clinton…and many ignorant and uneducated, unthinking Socialists who DO vote for her would be, in my opinion, in for a rather rude shock when they realized what they’ve done! But then, it’d be “GOOD BYE AMERICA!”
Like I’ve said before, if The Donald’s successful as Chief of Staff then he’ll like as not be voted in again…if not, he’ll get kick out. Let’s hope it’s the former for all our sakes!
Arthur Hartsock says
There is one major issue here that is being ignored/overlooked. That issue is our deficit/debt. If Mr. Trump is President he’ll have to make major decisions involving this issue. (And kicking the deficit can down the road is a poor-but major-decision.) Mr. Trump and Congress will have to make major budget decisions. And benefits going to Vets will be involved here. Our country has over-promised. And now many people are going to be disappointed. And probably very angry.
Lou says
Look @ the mess whe are in all ready from are so called president the only thing he’ll leave behind is his legacy as the worst president in history
RC says
Sylvia, I personally feel that Bernie would be harder for Trump to beat than Hillary. That is if she runs an honest campaign. Now don’t start laughing at that quite yet because anything honest is simply beyond Hillary’s understanding. My money is on Trump. I plan to vote for him even if he runs as a third party or if I have to write in his name. The same as many, I feel he’s the only hope we have to survive as a sovereign nation. He’s not above getting down and dirty to brawl with a piece of crooked trash like Hillary. Also, he’s survived in the real world where unlike politics, someone is always looking for a way to stab a guy in the back. And as for corruptness, I feel the Republican party, pretty much as a whole has proven itself to be nearly as corrupt as the so called Democrats. I call both Socialists, a nice way of saying Communist. I’m getting along in years and plan just for once to vote for the person I feel can do the best job instead of having to take the lessor of two evils, like I did in the last two presidential elections.
Sam Crabtree says
RC – If you vote third party, even if it is Trump, you will be electing Hillary. If Hillary is the Democrat candidate, and that is likely, I will vote Republican, for any Republican. I will not vote third party because a vote for a third party candidate takes a vote away from the only viable candidate opposing Hillary. Like it or not, the United States has a two-party system. And Yes, there are some Republicans, and others, that are likely to be a better President than Trump, and definitely better than Hillary. But are they likely to attract more votes than Hillary? No. Especially not as a third party candidate. Trump is better than Hillary and she’s the only likely option. A third party, if conservative, will result in a Hillary success. On the other hand, if Sanders or other liberal were to run as a third party candidate that’d be wonderful because it would almost guarantee a Hillary defeat.
rodney says
Honest! My @#%$^& hilary hasn’t done an honest thing in her life! That’s dreamin’ And boy do we ever NEED a hilary defeat. More like a hilary humiliation!
Rick Worthington says
Well said, Sam Crabtree. In all my near 80 years, I don’t think I’ve EVER seen or experienced anybody who is so corrupt, dishonest, conniving and totally unworrthy of being the POTUS as Hillary Clinton. As a former investigative journalist for some nearly 40 years and almost “been there, done that, read the book and seen the movie” in many countries around this old world, this Democrat candidate, Mrs. H. Clinton, for the Pres. of this great country would have to be the worst in history.
Her background, her lack of morals, lack of integrity and her many, many actions as well as her speeches truly confirm this opinion. It absolutely beggars belief how anybody in their right mind could even remotely justify voting for her. She might be the first woman President, should she somehow unfortunately become elected, but that’s is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to vote for her!
In fact, I’ll go this far as to predict (let’s see if I’m eventually correct!) That if, by some unfortunate stroke of bad luck for the U.S.A she becomes POTUS – this great country will collapse in many various ways and we’ll have to either quit or suffer from riots and worse! God help us then!

JWB – I second that emotion!
Rick Worthington says
You must be a communist for sure, JWB; otherwise you would not be wanting a communist or socialist in the W.H.
You would have to be a clown if you weren’t so left wing, since obviously you’ve never read or experienced full blown communism…just try living in North Korea, or China for a while – THEN you’d have a REAL idea about the ideology you are proposing! What a CLOWN!
And as for you, Louis, you must be living under a rock, somewhere…”Only a minority supporting Trump?” and those who do are crazy…? Obviously you have not listened or followed closely the real finer details of Trump’s policies, or for that matter, noticed the HUGE number of followers which he has attracted…he must be doing something right! Incidently, he’s not only a successful businessman, (and author) but he is the only one who is financing his own campaign…The one’s who are against him and who are spreading all the lies and vitriol against and about him are those who have the most to lose! (The corrupt and lying whoremongers of the Establishment!)
Warren says
I like Bernie.
He seems like a nice guy.
Does he have a clue?
Winston Churchill said,
if you are 20 years old and aren’t a socialist you don’t have a heart.
If you are 40 years old and aren’t a conservative you don’t have a brain.
That is as true today as when Churchill originally said it.
Bernie is 70 years old, what does that say about him?
If he is able to take all the money of the top 1%, they don’t have enough money.
So then they need to get all the money from the top 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%. By then they have to start taking from the people who are getting all their money from the government.
The size of the government is much to large.

Rick Worthington says
Sheila – stop spreading populist lies. If you’ve gotten something useful to write about, please do so; although everyone is entitled to their opinion, nobody should post lies about ANYBODY!. Do some REAL investigation and get the REAL facts about The Donald. It matters not whether you support this newcomer to the political scene or you don’t, just don’t pick up and and post libelous fantasy that is being invented and spread by Mr. Trump’s opponents.
Take a close look at the illegal and immoral actions of Hillary Clinton – notice that the media are reporting those and the actions of the FBI against her…(the newspapers etc).,they don’t publish that stuff if it wasn’t true – otherwise they would be libel to legal action. As a former investigative journo, I happen to know EXACTLY how low and what the threatened members of the Establishment will stoop to, in order to save their sorry asses and their corrupt income. Man! If only the average “Joe Blow” out there knew what goes on behind the scenes, there would probably be riots in the streets or somesuch! But as the old saying goes…”What the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t grieve!”

Dear JBW, have you ever lived in a Socialist or Communist country ? …. if not, move to Cuba or N. Korea for the next few months and THEN come back and let us know if you still want Sanders….if you do, go back to Cuba or N. Korea because AMERICANS relish their hard won freedom and independence.
Rosech says
I agree R Paul, I lived and worked under socialism and my spouse under socialism and communism, so it is easy to see and understand that a vote for either of the DNC evil twins is nothing more than handing America over to pure evil communism and lose America to One World Government (thanks to Heidi and I believe also Ted Cruz)/NWO. Trump has revivified the Republican Party and been our VOICE. He has always loved America and also our country’s Constitution allowing him to be a great father to his children to copy, and to be a success at his endeavors. He may not be supposed conservative we have been stupid enough to elect over the decades who immediately betrayed their oaths, promises, us and America, but a conservative for America and the people. The Republican party is scared of losing their power and riches. Both the 2 in 1 Parties are privately owned corporations and will learn they can no longer own us or our votes! I am an Independent having left both parties and our family here and in MO are voting for Trump. He has stated his policies and plans more than once and clearly except to those closeminded who think they are conservatives but have proven to be anything but. I am voting for America just like Trump. No other candidate has or had his skills and abilities, and connections to get America back on track and out of the hands of the likes of Soros, et al. AND, above all he is a native born son of a native born father which is the #1 requirement under our Constitiution and founding documents of 1789 meaning clearly that neither Cruz nor Rubio should have even been promoted except as I see it as patsies for the GOP!
Kimberly says
Paul, these crazy liberals don’t know what the heck they’re talking about. They have no clue. They fantasize about communism from the luxury of their homes, particularly these celebrities who make millions while talking about how bad the country is. You’re right – I’d love for all of them to move to Cuba – and stay there!

When will GOP give us someone to vote FOR instead of forcing us to vote against someone. We have four election where most of us had vote against someone and the GOP lost all of them.
Southern By Choice says
You are absolutely right- we have had three republican candidates shoved down our throats – Dole, McCain and Romney (with Ryan) forcing those of us who could not vote democrat to hold our noses and vote for the “lesser of the evils” – and how did that turn out. These establishment annointed candidates failed and failed miserably. I am old and can remember the excuse for nominating Dole was it was “his turn”. Then we had McCain who preached to everyone but had no desire to actually fight for the people or the victory.. Then came Romney/Ryan, who started out well, but folded like cheap suits the last two or three months, I think because they didn’t want to be called “racists” (a word I have grown to despise), After all Ryan did not even carry his home town in the election. Same old PC crap we have been dealing with for the past 7 1/2 years. Then we had Reagan, who the “establishment” hated, but the people embraced. Not comparing Trump to Reagan, but the movement is the same. People, at least those who have had a single independent thought in their entire lives, are sick of the elite deciding who THEY think is best for us and the country, i.e., their own power structure and pocketbook I might add. I will probably not be around for the next election (2020), but my heart is overjoyed that I have finally seen an awakening of the people and who are nowspeaking out (through their votes) about the PC nonsense and being told what the “right” thing is (embracing illegals, refugees, redistribution of the wealth through welfare programs, not hurting or offending a minorities feelings, even if they offend you) etc). How can anyone even consider voting for a disgrace like Hillary or a socialist (in America for God sake) . Sure, Trump can be abrasive and rude at times, however, with this country apologizing to everyone and every country for the past 7 1/2 years for its greatness, I think it is about time someone spoke for US.
Sloughfoot says
I couldn’t agree with you more. The Democrats are trying to destroy everything that has made this country great. Why model ourselves after Europe and become socialist? That is why people fled from there to begin with. Why are people so blind ?

They will be paid a reasonable salary, but no free plane rides, they will listen to and not close out the voters to any of the meetings (this one really bites), they will NEVER EVER take the almighty donor dollars from anyone outside their states and that is no corporate giving, etc. and all will be documented! no further stupidity in ignoring us and your job or you will be immediately removed by WE, THE PEOPLE WHO ARE THE GOVERNMENT and YOU ARE MERE EMPLOYEES AND NOTHING MORE! Trump needs to add to his first days all these okayed by We, the People of the perks and pork they gave themselves without our consent. PERIOD! Congress needs a check up from the neck up NOW!
Southern By Choice says
And you notice how when they preach about “entitlements” they only talk about SS and medicare, which most all working people have paid into their entire life. Never welfare, medicaid, cash to illegals and refugees, AND most importantly no cutting THEIR entitlement, which is full pay of their salaries for the rest of their lives after ONE term. Plus the medical, etc which they will get from now on. How much is that costing the taxpayers. That is the biggest rip off we have – and was certainly never foreseen by the founders, who believed that service in the congress or the presidency was a hardship and not a career. Let them pay into social security and medicare, as well as all other government employees, and live like the rest of us. One time in an IRA audit my husband and I were informed that the only ones exempt from SS were teachers, government workers and railroad employees. Talk about a privileged group. Then if their pension funds go belly up the taxpayers are stuck with their defunct pension, either through bail-outs of some other form of payments.

Here is good news for GOP elites. Trump planning to drop out of the nomination because he does not want to be bugged for not releasing his Tax Returns. Trump has had it up to here! This especially follows after Mitt Romney said Trump would not qualify if he does not release his tax return. You GOPers bashed Romney when he refused to release his tax returns in 2012. The guy had fled with his money to Swiss banks i.e. his money was creating jobs in Switzerland instead here for his fellow Americans. Romney then was laughing at fellow Americans that they were lazy and loafers. Trump has had it. He is planning to quit the WH bid. Now it is Romney will take over. GOPers cannot nominate Cruz because he is a foreigner -no eligible for the WH job. Now you GOPers, go a have a drink; but prepare for Hillary as president. Thanks.

If that damned b@$ch Hitlery Killery ROTTON Clinton is elected and becomes our nations next
Figurehead, I will leave the country after I have everything all sold and never come back. Hitlery
Killery ROTTON Clinton we know is pure evil, wicked, crooked, corrupt & very spoiled ROTTON b@$ch
Brat that along with her husband has destroyed the Democratic Party and made it the Clintoncratic
party. Donald Trump is the best choice, then Gary Johnson who is running a a Libertarian who is not
getting any media coverage at all is the next best choice. Donald Trump can’t be bought, he has nothing
to hide, we know about him. As a Veteran I ‘m sick & tired of myself and my fellow veterans and Senior citizens
being NO CLASS CITIZENS, the damned illegals have way too many rights and freebies. More than enough is
more than enough.
Sloughfoot says
Get on board the Trump train GOP because nobody cares what you are holding out for. The working class taxpayers who pay your enormous salaries and benefits are broke and struggling. You are no different to us then the rest of the freeloaders on welfare, food stamp, medicaid. You all have got to get it together because we can no longer support anymore socialist programs that the Democrats want. We have enough hand outs already to pay for and it sickens me that we pay our retired people who have WORKED and PAID TAXES all their lives getting paid less than welfare recipients and illegal immigrants. WTH??? ENOUGH.
Jim Auel says
Trump is the only one who can get us out of this hole America is in.
Deb says
Ryan trying to hold out is a bad joke. He has no leverage
Norma Smith says
Mr Trump will rise to the challenge. He hasn’t even had time to formulate exactly HOW each issue will be addressed. He IS aware of all Obama has done to destroy our country He is very intelligent and will find a way. We need to pray for him fervantly to listen to Godly advise and with contrite spirit accept God’s help. That is what I can do and all believer can do this. God help us!!!
Sheila says
Americans are soooo desperate for change (and I understand and agree), but look long and hard at your candidate. Remember someone once said “BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR” redemption is hard to find without a heavy price!
Justin W says
Donald needs to make every effort to unify the Republican party. Yes, he can run for president without unifying the party behind him. He may even be able to get elected without a unified party. But, at some point Trump will need support in the House and Senate to get his agenda enacted into law. If he wants to be seen as a successful president he is going to have to deal with 535 congressmen and senators with their own agendas and egos.
Burton Hughes says
We , the people have had enough of the Washington and the Wall Street elite or power brokers. We will get rid of you one way or another.. First we are trying the ballot box. If it is stolen, we move on to the next options that are limited by the will of the people and their imagination.Power brokers, you are being warned, get out before your blood is spilled. This statement is my observation of the times that we live in here in the USA and the way that matters are going. We have had more than enough . We are not total fools and we are through tolerating the corruption of the elite.

This man, Donald Trump, is the first man, candidate that sounds alive and gives meaning to some of the America values that have been pushed aside the past 7 years; people are flocking to him because maybe they hope he can bring back an America that was the number one power in the world (we set the stage), no apologizing for our past, carry a big stick to maintain stability in a troubled world, not, give it to your enemies hoping they will do as you did after you turn your back, take care of Americans first, home and abroad, honor our veterans and be thankful the military has the kind of people who will take care of us, home and aboard, while we sleep, safe and sound (not view them as war mongers and killers of woman and children), maintain our allies (no one ever has enough friends), and protect our borders from the undesirables that continually (and are encouraged by the current administration) to try and cross it to do us harm, and, among others, get a bottom line on government spending and control (most of which is being done with the pen and paper and liberal courts, not By The People). This man, Trump, is smarter than a lot give him credit, but he is going to come under heavy fire from Hillary and her band of thieves that want to take ALL YOU HAVE so they can enjoy it. All of this will rest upon the shoulders of Mr. Trump; he isn’t perfect but looks and sounds a lot better than the past and current establishment of false prophets.
John says
Jack, You are correct Mr. Trump is far from being perfect But he is our the best alternative. As a intelligent voter I do not believe he can do all that he has promised. I think he will do his best, and that is what the American people want. We want someone who will work hard on our behalf and not wast our money as has been done in the past.I believe that most Americans want to work and do not want to receive assistance. I truly believe we would rather be productive than take a handout, but politicians have created a system of give away-es that encourage people not to work. This gives them a power base. I love this Great Nation and pray that we prevail. God Bless America, and may He hold us in His hand once again, Our faith in God made Us Great only faith can restore and heal Us.

the people voted for Trump, not Ryan-
and what Ryan doesn’t realize is that Trump is more conservative than he is.
Getting involved in civil wars halfway around the world is not conservative- It’s stupid.

And Then,,,To have the Audacity to Expect The Citizens HERE TO Support them..AND TO SMILE and Pat them on Their Ass While AT IT. Those Days ARE Done. Every Free-loader Should be Collected up and Shipped Out of HERE>>Back to Wherever They Originated FROM. WE Will not Sit still For This Behavior to Continue..While IT is Dragging OUR Country Down to The Lowest Of The Third Worlds `economy. I am surprised the issue of the insiders wanting to vote themselves another pay raise before the fall election. They are crying that $174,000 salary isn’t enough to live in a comfortable way. They need to be on the military salary with time in service as a pay raise. Make them work for 20 years on the job to get a retirement with VA hospital care IF they fall down a full flight of stairs.
Richard Moorer says
Why would anyone want Sanders, he’s a communist… haven’t we had enough of that stuff from Obummer??? this country is in the toilet now because of the corruption, race wars, ” distribution of wealth”, etc… i don’t understand why people don’t like freedom and being left alone. why would you want someone to control you. when capitalism is practiced honestly it works. that’s how we became so great… Ted Cruz is of the establishment and business as usual, but you want to trust him. they’re all scared of Trump because he’s going to upset the balance of the good ol’ boys club of dishonesty and corruption…we need a change desperately so what do we have to lose with Trump. i don’t totally trust him as i don’t any of them..we need our 2nd amendment to stand as well as good conservative justices in the supreme court…But with the morale decay and kicking God out of about everything, maybe no one can salvage the damage done!!

The one Clinton we had as president set the bar pretty low as far as a role model for our people especially the younger generation. I can not even believe the American Voters will allow Hillary to take office and show the rest of the world how stupid we really are. I truly believe Trump has our nations best interest near and dear to him and will work hard and surround himself with other brilliant minds and get our country headed in the right direction.

Ned any further proof that the Republican Party is FINISHED, DEAD, ON THE ASHHEAP OF HISTORY???
Don says
There is a great irony in this election; Abraham Lincoln said it best when he said America is a nation “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” These Republican elites are supposed to be “the people’s” representatives, but there’s a disconnect. When “the people” vote, they each individually speak loud and clear for all to hear, especially their representatives, exactly what their will is. There has never been a Republican election where so many of them cast their ballot for a certain candidate, and yet Paul Ryan says he’s not ready to endorse him! This is absolutely astonishing! WOW! There can be only one reason for Ryan to do this—he is blindly and naively looking out for his important seat without realizing “the people” gave it to him. If he’s not careful he will find himself also thrown off the tracks by the Trump train. I would say to Ryan, LISTEN TO “THE PEOPLE!”

A vote for Hillary or Bernie is a vote for unemployment and higher taxes on those that still have job. A vote for either of them is a vote for an ever growing Federal deficit and an expansion of our already bloated Federal bureaucracy. Bernie should be appointed Ambassador to Russia so that he can observe first had the failure of communism. If Hillary doe not go to jail she should be appointed Ambassador to Libya. That would be poetic justice. Trump is now our best chance. That does not mean that we have to follow blindly.
