“On the Holmes Front” with Frank Holmes
The Left has two favorite phrases: They’re both six words long, and each one contradicts the other.
We heard one of them for the last 10 years, ever since President Donald Trump entered politics: “No one is above the law!” claims Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and her allies.
Democrats used the phrase to justify a never-ending series of lawfare, personal attacks, and character (and literal) assassinations against President Trump.
The Democrats’ other favorite phrase is, “Do you know who I am?”
That’s the phrase they use when you try to arrest them—like the Rhode Island attorney general screamed “I’m an AG!” at a federal agent who handcuffed her, or any of the other Democrats who resisted arrest during public acts of obstruction.
But the entire Democratic Party has huddled around one of the last hires of the Autopen administration: Lisa Cook of the Federal Reserve.
President Trump moved to fire Cook after official documents allegedly showed the financial authority committing mortgage fraud. In 2021, she signed papers stating that two different properties would each serve as her primary residence, allowing her to get better rates and possibly have a lower down payment.
President Trump fired her from the Fed, “for cause,” over the scandal.
For an ordinary person, mortgage fraud could mean you lose a lot more than your job. But Democrats are crying foul that a left-wing ideologue has gotten kicked out of her taxpayer-funded perch.
It’s even caused some leading Democrats to say that mortgage fraud isn’t really that bad…and it’s definitely not something you can fire a public official over.
“What I care most about is that we follow the law here,” Warren told MSNBC’s “Squawk Box” earlier this week, “and the law is pretty clear that firing for cause means job-related, like someone who has been inefficient or someone who’s been corrupt in doing the job.”
Committing financial fraud shouldn’t impact someone whose job is to set national financial policy, Warren argued. That’s a strange take from the woman who brags that her greatest accomplishment is creating the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Besides, none of the charges matter, because they “came from a Donald Trump lackey,” who “said, in effect, ‘I have access to a whole bunch of data that nobody else sees and let me see if I can go through the Donald Trump enemies list and find anything that I can claim is dirt.’”
In her official statement, Warren went even further, calling the firing “an authoritarian power grab that blatantly violates the Federal Reserve Act.”
Cherokee princess Warren has a long history of speaking with forked tongue—but she’s not the only one writing off the charges.
The Democratic leader in the House, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York, also declared her not guilty, saying, “The American people are not buying your phony projection and slander of a distinguished public servant.”
Even liberal writer Paul Krugman, a former columnist for The New York Times, told CNN that Cook’s firing is “crazy,” because serial mortgage fraud is the same as “if I cheated on my third-grade exam.”
They’re all behind Lisa Cook, who recently sued to keep her job on the Fed’s board of governors and serve until her 14-year term ends in 2038—but there are already bad signs about her lawsuit.
As her defense attorney, Cook hired Abbe Lowell, the same lawyer who defended Hunter Biden.
Worse yet, Cook just got hit with another case of mortgage fraud.
Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte filed a third criminal referral against Cook on Thursday.
“3 strikes and you’re out,” wrote Pulte, as he detailed how, in April 2021, “Cook entered a 15-year mortgage for a condominium” in the elite enclave of Cambridge, Massachusetts, promising in a legally binding document that the $361,000 spread would serve as her “second home.”
But just eight months later, “on December 1, 2021, Cook signed an ethics form with the U.S. Government that this property was an ‘investment/rental property,” and kept the rental designation through this year.
“By potentially falsely representing the property as a second home, Cook may have received savings by not declaring it as an investment property,” wrote Pulte.
In legal filings, Cook’s attorneys admitted the ongoing paper trail related to her third mortgage could be yet another “unintentional clerical error.”
3 strikes and you’re out.

Criminality is bad enough: Worse yet, Cook is incompetent—and every one of her defenders knows it.
Joe Biden nominated her as a political payoff to Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C. Clyburn endorsed Biden in the 2020 South Carolina primary if Biden promised to appoint a black female running mate and more black employees in his administration.
In other words, Lisa Cook is about as qualified as Kamala Harris—a fact Republicans pointed out at the time.
“Cook has nearly zero experience in monetary policy. She does have a PhD in economics. However, not a single one of her publications concerns monetary economics,” said Senator Pat Toomey, R-Penn., after Cook’s nomination in March 2022. “The White House cites as her main qualification on U.S. monetary policy her appointment as a Chicago Fed director. But that appointment was made in January of this year—just two weeks before President Biden announced her nomination to be a Fed governor.”
“Professor Cook’s history of extreme left-wing political advocacy… also makes her unfit to serve on the Fed,” Toomey added. “In over 30,000 public tweets and retweets, Professor Cook has supported race-based reparations, promoted conspiracies about Georgia voter laws, and sought to cancel those who disagree with her views, such as publicly calling for the firing of an economist who dared to tweet that he opposed defunding the Chicago police.”
🚨 LMAO! Leftist professor Paul Krugman says Lisa Cook’s literal MORTGAGE FRAUD is the equivalent of “cheating on a third grade exam”
Democrats are now openly backing fraudsters 🤣

Cook’s first, short-term nomination to the Fed in 2022 was so controversial that the Senate confirmation tie had to be broken by the then-vice president, Kamala Harris.
Now, Democrats are circling the wagons to protect Lisa Cook—and maybe themselves, as well.
Democratic Senator Adam Schiff has been accused of the same type of fraud, as does New York Attorney General Letitia James… and they could just be the tip of the iceberg.
“We Are All Lisa Cook,” wrote Paul Krugman on Monday.
You heard the Left admit it: They’re all crooks.
We should fire them all.
