President Barack Obama’s weak foreign policy has long been the subject of fierce scorn from conservatives — and his sympathetic statement on the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro was a step too far for Senator Marco Rubio, a Cuban-American whose parents fled Castro’s murderous regime.
Rubio called Obama’s sympathetic response to the death of a tyrant “pathetic” for ignoring the thousands who suffered at Catro’s hands.

“Barack Obama is the president of the most powerful country in the world. And what I called pathetic is not mentioning whatsoever in that statement the reality that there are thousands upon thousands of people who suffered brutally under the Castro regime,” Rubio said on his tweet, which he is refusing to apologize for.
“He executed people. He jailed people for 20 to 30 years. The Florida Straits, there are thousands of people who lost their lives fleeing his dictatorship. And not to acknowledge any of that in the statement, I felt was pathetic, absolutely.”
Rubio’s statements are correct — it was estimated by The Wall Street Journal that Castro was directly responsible for up to 100,000 deaths, and personally led death squads on a reign of terror throughout the island of Cuba. For decades as dictator, he violently oppressed free speech, jailed and tortured those considered disloyal, and forbid free elections. He was most noted for bringing the world on the brink of extinction when he allied himself with the Soviet Union and attempted to bring nuclear missiles to America’s doorstep.
And Obama is sorry for his family?
Disgusting, critics say, especially because Obama wasn’t alone in his outpouring of affection for the now dead dictator.
Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said that Castro was a friend of Mexico, and had promoted relationships with his country based on “respect, dialogue and solidarity.”
Additionally, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing a firestorm of controversy for describing Castro as “a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and health care of his island nation.”

Heads of state generally issue their condolences on the death of a world leader or former world leader. Fidel Castro was like most other dictators. He was brutal and he trampled on the rights of his people in the interest of maintaining his grip on power. Fidel Castro has now come before God and had to explain the blood on his hands. He may have discovered that there are places much warmer than Cuba.
It does seem right to issue a condolence.But to praise a man that murdered thousands and for world leaders to say how wonderful he was to educate and have healthcare is insane.What good is it if your government kills you for being educated.Guess that is how health care is kept cheap and affordable.

I celebrate the death of Castro…..I am not Cuban, but I fully remember the horrors committed by this monster……Over the years, I’ve met many that fled his tyranny. At 15, at the time of the Cuban/Russia missile crisis, my generation, my family, my friends lived in fear of nuclear war for many months, so I really despise this dictator. And then there was the refuge release which harbored “convicts”. (much like Islamic/terrorists refuges??)
