Vice President Kamala Harris made a mysterious trip to Palm Springs, California and the press was barred from viewing her plane leave Andrews Air Force Base over the weekend. Now, she appears to have returned to the capital.
But no one will say what she was doing while she was gone.
On Sunday, Harris was seen in D.C. with her husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. The two were seen powerwalking in luxury athleisure.
Harris was wearing a shirt from Lululemon and Airmax shoes from Nike. Emhoff wore a polo shirt.
Emhoff gained online attention for the tattoos on his arm. They appear to spell the names of his children: Cole and Ella.
The First Couple walked closely ahead of the Secret Service pack.

The power walk came just two days after Harris’s secretive trip to California.
She left for Joint Base Andrews in Maryland at around 7 p.m. on Friday, and she jetted to Palm Springs International Airport from there.
There is no word on what she was doing in California.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden remained in the capital rally Democratic support for his spending agenda: a $1.2 trillion bill for public works, a $3.5 trillion plan for social spending in a reconciliation bill.
The vice president technically presides over the Senate, but Harris was on the other side of the continent, even during the Senate Democrats’ negotiations over the $3.5 trillion bill.
Plus, Harris appears not to have contacted the Democrats of Palm Springs.
The mayor tweeted about Harris’s visit, but Elle Kurpiewski, political director of the Democratic Headquarters of the Desert, told the Desert Sun that didn’t know anyone who was aware of the vice president’s visit.
Harris kept her public schedule empty. The resort town seemed quiet. The vice president received a police escort from the airport, but it stopped “fewer than a dozen drivers” according to the local paper.
One driver asked a city official about the occasion for the police escort, the paper reported. The official responded, “Someone’s coming.”
Harris is a native of California. She worked in state government for six years, after a career in local government. Then she represented the Golden State in the U.S. Senate until this year.
She went to her home last month to campaign for Gov. Gavin Newsom during his recall election, which ultimately ended in the Newsom’s favor.
Emhoff is also from California, but it remains unclear whether he accompanied Harris on her trip.
The Desert Sun asked the White House about the reason for Harris’s private visit, but a spokesperson for Harris remained silent.
