Was this thug with a gun about to become America’s next school shooter?
Thanks to the brave actions of an armed university police officer, the answer is clear: No way!
In a heroic feat, a university officer stopped a gunman near Coppin State University campus in Baltimore before he had the chance injure a soul.
The officer shot and killed a man who had just fired at a moving car near the campus, authorities said.
The suspected shooter was pronounced dead on the scene Tuesday evening and the officer wasn’t hurt, Baltimore police spokesman T.J. Smith said at a news conference at the northwest Baltimore site. There were no reports of any other injuries.
Smith said that around 6:20 p.m., two cars approached from the area of a nearby mall on a street near the campus. A uniformed campus officer was driving an unmarked car on the same street as part of a patrol to deter vehicle break-ins, he said.
The police spokesman said one of the cars stopped and the officer’s vehicle stopped behind it. A man got out of the passenger side of the car and began shooting at the second car approaching him.
The university officer then got out of his vehicle and shot at the gunman, striking him, Smith said, adding the two cars sped away. A gun was recovered at the site, Smith said.
The university’s officers don’t wear body cameras but surveillance cameras recorded some of the incident, Smith said.
Smith did not disclose the races of the suspect or the officer, and said the identity of the man wasn’t immediately being released while the family was notified. He described the slain man as a young adult and said he was not a Coppin student.
Former Baltimore Police Commissioner Leonard Hamm, now the director of public safety for Coppin State University Police, also went to the scene. Hamm said the university officer “did exactly what he was trained to do. He saw a dangerous situation; he did his job.”
Baltimore police and Coppin police have concurrent jurisdiction over the city street where the shootings occurred and both are investigating, Smith said. He also said officers are seeking the drivers of the two cars that sped off , as well as any passengers.
Earlier Tuesday evening, a man killed in a double shooting became Baltimore’s 300th homicide this year, Smith said.

The officer couldn’t shoot at the car the shooter got out of because the driver posed no legitimate threat. That’s the rules of engagement in today’s America.

Races of the suspect and officer were not disclosed? WTF, a suspect was witnessed commiting a crime, illegally firing a handgun at passerbys, endangering the lives of people with gunfire, and he was killed before he could kill. Justice was served, WTF does race have to do with anythhing?

In a local story a thug went into our mall hiding a gun. Saw a women with kids and a lot of presents for under the tree. As she and a few others who were in the food court he pulled out a gun and demanded all jewelry, watches, cash and etc. The woman he was following was an off duty Deputy Sheriff and ordered everyone to get down. As he lifted his gun to shoot her, but she shot first hitting him in the arms forcing him to drop the gun. The liberals were outraged by a sheriff officer pulling a gun out trying to protect the people in the food court. As it turns out he had a long history of violent behavior, had shot and killed someone about 4 years ago. He got out on a technicality. He wouldn’t have hesitated to pull the trigger with family and kids walking about shopping. She saved a lot of lives that day but the liberals want her badge.
