Looks like former Vice President Joe Biden is about to face a lot more questions about the actions of his son, Hunter Biden.
And this one has nothing to do with the scandal in Ukraine.
Biden is alleged to have been at the heart of an identity theft case involving his late brother, Beau Biden, in 2016.
This is according to court documents filed this past week related to the paternity case against Biden by ex-stripper Lunden Alexis Roberts. Judge Holly Meyer said DNA tests found “near scientific certainty” that the 49-year-old Biden is “the biological and legal father” of the 17-month-old child.
Biden, who had previously denied fathering the child, said he will not fight for custody. However, the court case continues over issues such as child support payments.
Biden is also expecting his fifth child with his current wife, Melissa Cohen.
But the part of the case now getting more attention involves an alleged identity theft related to a 2016 visit to a facility in Arizona, according to court papers issued by private investigator Dominic Casey, who filed to intervene in the case.
He did not allege that Biden himself committed identity theft.
Instead, the documents cite a police report from Prescott, Ariz. involving suspicious items inside a Hertz rental car. One item was “a Delaware Attorney General badge belonging to Hunter Biden’s deceased brother Joseph R. Beau Biden III.” — known more publicly as Beau Biden.
The document claims “stolen items” were used to check Hunter Biden into an unnamed “facility” in Arizona.
It’s not clear what Biden was doing in Arizona in that instance. However, the timing is consistent with a report in Phoenix New Times that said a rental car linked to Biden was found with a crack pipe with cocaine residue.
The New Times reported that Biden, who has a history of problems with substance abuse, was not charged in that case.
It’s also not clear why he would have used his deceased brother’s badge, although the New Yorker reported last year that Hunter Biden used his late brother’s wallet, with the badge still in it, and traveled with it.
There’s nothing illegal about it, but it’s more suspicious behavior that raises questions as his father runs for president.
Judge Meyer denied private investigator Casey’s petition to intervene – and seemed to warn him to keep out of the case.
“The author, Dominic Casey and D&A Investigations, are strongly cautioned not to file frivolous pleadings and is ordered to refrain from future frivolous pleadings or be subject to show cause why they should not be brought before the Court, held in contempt by this Court, and punished by fine, incarceration or both,” she wrote in court papers.
While Joe Biden has consistently led 2020 Democratic contenders in the polls, he has yet to break away from the pack – and the constant questions over his son’s sketchy activities could be part of it.
In addition the paternity suit… and the now-emerging identity theft accusations… Biden is at the heart of the ongoing Ukraine scandal.
Now, it looks like Joe Biden won’t be answering as many uncomfortable questions about Ukraine… because he’ll be too busy answering questions about a new scandal that hits a whole lot closer to home.
