If you think Vice President Kamala Harris is a complete disaster, you’re in strong company. According to those closest to him, so does President Joe Biden.
The president — who’s famous for saying his comments are “no joke” — thinks Kamala Harris is “a joke.”
That insight comes from sources deep inside the White House… and it should humiliate the veep.
The details are in a new biography called Amateur Hour: Kamala Harris in the White House, written by Charlie Spiering, a reporter whose byline has appeared on Breitbart.com.
“In my time spent reporting for this book, I was surprised to learn how few Democrats even like Harris, let alone respect her — unless they are personally invested in her success,” write Spiering. “There’s plenty of negative chatter behind the scenes, but few dare speak publicly, for fear of being branded a racist or a sexist.”
The problem is Harris is almost completely useless to the man who put her on the Democratic ticket, the 46th president of the United States.
Some of Biden’s advisers—and undoubtedly some of Harris’ supporters—actually argued that Kamala would somehow help Biden get his message across in the Senate.
Kamala Harris served less than one full term in the U.S. Senate; Joe Biden got elected seven times between 1972 and 2008. He was a longtime Senate committee chairman, a vice president, and the 16th longest-serving senator in U.S. history.
In a blistering sentence, Spiering writes, “The idea that Harris was going to use her powers of persuasion to help get Biden’s agenda through Congress was a joke to Biden’s team.” All of Biden’s legislative victories came “despite Harris, not because of her.”
It seems that Biden tried to work with the vice president—he really tried.
“When they started, Harris and Biden appeared eager to demonstrate the beginning of a buddy relationship,” the book reveals. “Biden wanted someone he could work with, joke with, and bounce ideas off of, just as he believed that he and Obama had.”
But the friendship never happened. “Despite her love of cooking, Harris has yet to host the Bidens at her home for dinner,” said Spiering. And as a matter of fact, “the Bidens have not welcomed Harris and her husband to the White House for a personal dinner either.”
The phony friendship and coy camaraderie didn’t last long. The spry, young Kamala Harris’ word salads, lack of preparation, and public missteps ended up backfiring even more for the White House than the elderly Biden’s jumbled sentences and Alzheimer’s-like wandering around stage.
“Harris was essentially frozen out from the president’s inner circle,” Spiering uncovers.
“Biden and his team had already achieved their goal of winning, using Harris’s identity to ‘make history’ and inspire voters to pull the aging presidential hopeful across the finish line.” They used her, and they threw her away shortly after she flopped on the job. “When they took office, Harris was sidelined. Despite Biden’s promise to make Harris a full partner in everything, Harris began the job literally standing behind Biden.”
Biden tried to stretch the vice president. He gave her charge of the southern U.S. border with Mexico… and the administration has broken records for the highest number of border crossings every single year.
Her negotiations with Latin American countries to please, please cipher off the number of illegal aliens crossing our border ended up in defeat. It was so embarrassing, officials nicknamed her “Guatemala Harris.”
He gave her gun control as an issue. Joe Biden got Bill Clinton to sign an “assault weapons ban” that outlawed the AR-15 for a decade. But all Kamala Harris’ efforts ended up shooting the administration in the foot.
Soon, nobody wanted to work with her. She oversaw a parade of resignations from the vice president’s office.
Her approval rating also kept plunging with the American people. Most of the administration, she’s been less popular than Joe Biden.
Outside groups have run multiple attempts to try to revive her image. The pro-abortion EMILY’s List promised to spend “tens of millions of dollars” to remind people just how popular she is. She’s currently roughly tied with Biden, with six out of 10 Americans disapproving of both of them.
Biden sees her as an anchor, an albatross, or an anvil around his neck — and he wants to cut her loose.
“Washington, D.C., is cruel. Once you are found unworthy, there is little you can do to change people’s minds,” writes Spiering. “Mistakes compounded on mistakes only cemented her reputation and there is little room for sympathy when you reach that level of power.”
After the last three years, Kamala Harris certainly doesn’t win any sympathy from us. But neither does Joe Biden, who picked her because of her race and sex, then seemed amazed to learn she’s totally incompetent. They both need to go.
