Critics on both sides of the political aisle have skewered President Joe Biden for the mismanagement of the American withdrawal from Afghanistan… but only one person has slammed the first lady for letting him run in the first place.
And Jill Biden’s office responded with fury.
On Sunday, Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy was discussing the Afghanistan crisis… and blamed it on Jill Biden.

Fox and Friends co-host Will Cain argued that Joe Biden was tarnishing America’s reputation by mishandling Afghanistan.
Campos-Duffy agreed.
Then, she continued, “I’m sorry, as a political spouse, I can’t help but look at Jill Biden.”
Since 1999, Campos-Duffy has been married to former U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy (R–Wisc.) The couple has at least eight children.
“When you look at what’s hurting America, when you look at this lack of leadership, and you wonder, who are the people responsible for putting someone this incompetent and frankly this, you know, mentally frail in this position?”
“No one knew better his state of mind than Dr. Jill Biden,” she continued. “And if you ask me, the most patriotic thing Jill Biden could have done was tell her husband ― to love her husband ― and not let him run in this mental state that he’s in.”

Both Jill Biden’s office and the mainstream media fired back at Campos-Duffy with fury.
The Huffington Post described Campos-Duffy’s comments as “a strange reach.” The first lady’s Press Secretary Michael LaRosa said, “This is disgusting” and demanded an apology.
“I hope they’ll apologize to the First Lady and leave this kind of talk in the [trash] where it belongs,” LaRosa said.
This is disgusting. @RCamposDuffy and @FoxNews know better. They can do better and their viewers deserve better. I hope they'll apologize to the First Lady and leave this kind of talk in the????️where it belongs. https://t.co/emBFCwKDiV

Earlier this year, Campos-Duffy was attacked for questioning the role of another political spouse: former First Lady Michelle Obama. She argued that Obama had failed to help Chicago schools navigate the pandemic.
Campos-Duffy may be one of the few pundits to call out political spouses, but she is only one of many public figures to question Joe Biden’s fitness.
After the fall of Kabul, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott (R–Fla.) called for using the 25th Amendment to remove President Biden from office. According to the 25th Amendment, the president can be removed if he becomes “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”
After the disastrous events in Afghanistan, we must confront a serious question: Is Joe Biden capable of discharging the duties of his office or has time come to exercise the provisions of the 25th Amendment? https://t.co/l1bFrUdZH9
