On Wednesday, First Lady Jill Biden appeared on CBS This Morning — and she didn’t like the questions they had prepared.
Despite a softball interview, Biden snapped when asked about her husband’s floundering re-election campaign.
Co-host Gayle King asked, “How is the campaign going for you?”
The first lady offered a sound bite.
“It’s going great,” the first lady said. “I have been traveling every day we are not in the classroom. People are excited, and I really feel like people know the choice this election, and they can choose chaos, or they can choose — y’know — steady wisdom, experience.”
However, King rattled the first lady with a follow-up question. King asked, “There’s not a part of you that’s a little worried?”
The CBS host even described the president’s campaign as “off-kilter a little bit.”
“No,” the first lady snapped, talking over King. “I feel that Joe will be re-elected.”
Another co-host, Tony Dokoupil, offered, “But when these polls, like the Wall Street Journal one land in the White House, and he’s losing in all the battleground states –”
“No, he’s not losing in all the battleground states,” the first lady interrupted. “He’s coming up! And he’s even — or doing — better!”
“All but one,” Dokoupil said, correcting himself.
The Wall Street Journal poll found Joe Biden trailing Republican Donald Trump in six of the seven “battleground states” surveyed through phone and text message. While the poll has a small sample size (600 voters in each state) and a wide margin of error (4 percent for an individual state), it follows a trend of Trump beating Biden in battleground states. In five of the seven states, it found the winning candidate polling within the margin of error.
Still, the first lady insisted she was sure of her husband’s “obvious” victory.
The first lady snapped, critics said, and replied, “So, you know what? Once people start to focus in, and they see their two choices, it’s obvious that Joe will win this election!”‘
Americans will vote in only seven months. Voters have already started “focusing in.”

The first lady appeared on CBS News to surprise Tennessee’s Missy Testerman, the national teacher of the year.
Predictably, King lobbed some softball questions at the first lady.
“Dr. Biden, we are so thrilled to have you here taking a little break from the campaign trail,” King said. “Did you change clothes? How many times? Because you knew you were going to meet Missy Testerman?”
Testerman struck a hopeful note.
“There are no such things as bad students. There may be kids who are having bad days or students who are struggling,” Testerman said. “You can always start over a little later in the day.”
The Biden campaign would certainly hope so.
“I have a special announcement, Missy,” the first lady concluded. “When you come to the White House, we are going to have a state dinner for the teachers. You’ll have to pick your dress. This is the first time.”
If these polls are any indication, Jill Biden might be hosting this state dinner for the last time.
