Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance announced Tuesday they are expecting their fourth child, a boy, due in late July.
“We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy,” the couple announced in an Instagram post. “Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July.”
The announcement was met with congratulations from across Washington, with the White House retweeting the news and declaring the Trump administration “the most pro-family administration in history.”
The Vances expressed gratitude to military doctors who have cared for their family and to staff members who help them serve the country while raising their children.
“During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children,” they wrote.

JD and Usha Vance met while students at Yale Law School and the two married in 2014. They have three young children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
Before her husband was selected as President Donald Trump’s running mate, Usha Vance worked as a lawyer for the firm Munger, Tolles & Olson. She clerked for Chief Justice John Roberts on the Supreme Court and Justice Brett Kavanaugh when he was a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She left her position at the law firm after Vance was named Trump’s vice presidential candidate.
Politicians including Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, and Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, shared their congratulations via social media.
“Congratulations, @VP and @SLOTUS!” Burgum wrote. “There is no greater joy than being a parent. Honored to work for an administration that puts family first!”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who is pregnant with a baby girl expected in May, added her congratulations to the vice president and second lady.
“Congratulations to our great @VP and lovely @SLOTUS!” Leavitt wrote.
The announcement comes as the Trump administration continues to emphasize pro-family policies and support for American families. The Vances have been vocal about the importance of family life and the challenges facing American parents.
The baby boy will be the first child born to a sitting vice president and second lady during this administration.
