The Obama Administration has had eight years of embarrassing failures, but this could be the biggest one yet.
Iran is threatening to “set fire to” the sweetheart nuclear deal — just one year after the White House claimed they had an ironclad pact with the mad ayatollahs of the Middle East.
Even worse, the newly emboldened leaders of that rogue nation now say that anyone who believes Tehran is willing to cooperate with Washington is “delusional.”
So much for peace partners.
Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is using the upcoming U.S. election as an excuse for tearing up the deal, claiming that the next occupants of the White House will shred the agreement first.
Apparently, he’s just trying to beat them to the punch.
And that’s where this gets incredibly brazen — because the man they’re referring to hasn’t threatened to abandon the deal at all.
Alone among Republican presidential candidates, Donald Trump said he wouldn’t toss the Iran deal out the window.
Instead, he would make sure Tehran lives up to every single obligation they have under the deal, big and small.
“I’m really good at looking at a contract,” Trump said last year on “Meet the Press.”
Love him or hate him, you have to admit that the man knows a thing or two about contracts. Trump also said at the time that while the Iran deal is a bad one, he would “police that contract so tough they don’t have a chance.”
That’s the last thing in the world the Iranians want.
Khamenei knows his team exploited the rubes of the Obama administration. They took full advantage of the White Houses naivety and scored a deal where sanctions are lifted, billions in frozen assets are released into their coffers and they now have a chance to sell oil on the world market again.
And in return, they didn’t even have to dismantle their nuclear arms program.
They just had to agree to some easy-to-foil inspections… and already they’ve been accused of continuing to develop ballistic missiles in complete violation of the treaty.
In fact, they haven’t even toned down their inflammatory rhetoric — just last month Iran threatened yet again to wipe Israel off the map.
They know the party’s over. It’s all about to come crashing to a halt for them the moment a real negotiator moves into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue – the man who literally wrote the book on how to make deals and win.
Seems they have no plans to let Trump’s team do to them what they did to Obama… so they’re already signaling their intention to leave the deal and walk away.
Supposedly, the world powers can bring sanctions back quickly… but anyone who’s seen how slowly they move knows that’s not going to happen.
Folks who think otherwise, in the words of the mad ayatollah, are just plain “delusional.”
