Did an argument over a late-night snack end the life of 6-year-old beauty pageant queen JonBenet Ramsey?
That’s what a team of world-renowned investigators revealed last night in the conclusion of the CBS series, “The Case Of: JonBenet Ramsey.”
After months of investigating the 1996 cold case, the investigators agreed unanimously that JonBenet’s killer was her brother, Burke Ramsey.
During the series, the investigative team — which included top DNA and autopsy experts, current and former members of the FBI, Scotland Yards, and the Boulder, CO Police Department, and handwriting and linguistics analysts — pored over various, competing theories on the case.
Their ultimate conclusion was that Burke killed his sister, possibly by accident, late at night on Christmas, 1996 in their Boulder, CO home. And to protect their son, parents John and Patsy Ramsey allegedly staged a crime scene to draw attention away from Burke.
The investigators systematically set about debunking other long-held theories in the case. Some of the more shocking revelations included:
- JonBenet was not sexually assaulted, as had been previously claimed. There was no indication of vaginal trauma.
- The window through which a supposed intruder could have entered still had an old, undisturbed cobweb across it at the time.
- JonBenet was not tasered to subdue her, as some theories had claimed. The two wound marks on her body were not separated by the right distance for a stun gun, and the wounds appear to have been administered after she was dead. Rather, the investigators allege, she may have been poked with one of Burke’s train toys (which had probes that were the correct distance apart) to see if she was still alive.
- The supposed DNA on JonBenet’s underwear was minimal, inconsequential, and of “no forensic value.” The investigators purchased new underwear and showed how they tend to have trace DNA on them from the sewing and manufacturing process.
Ultimately, the investigators determined that Burke, who was 9 at the time of the killing, was the person responsible. It all came down to a piece of pineapple in JonBenet’s stomach, which was likely snatched from a snack Burke had been enjoying that night and that proves she was with Burke late in the evening.
The bowl with the pineapple pieces and the spoon had Burke’s fingerprints all over them.
Investigators believe that Burke, angered by his sister, struck her in the head with a flashlight and killed her, likely accidentally.
The notion that JonBenet got up from bed that night and that Burke allegedly was the last person to see her alive were both new wrinkles in the case — and seem to directly contradict several statements made by the Ramsey family.
“It’s the boy who did it,” said legendary forensic pathologist Dr. Werner Spitz, who also investigated the autopsies for President John Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Burke, videos show, was evasive during his interview with police and even claimed he could not recognize a photo of the snack he’d been eating.
Investigators also focused on Burke’s complicated — and sometimes downright hostile — relationship with his sister. He had apparently previously struck her in the face with a golf club, causing a scar.
Burke also allegedly had a history of smearing feces, and feces were reportedly found in JonBenet’s bed and wiped on a box of candy she’d gotten for Christmas.
While Burke was too young (by just a few weeks) at the time to be prosecuted for murder, his father, John, is still alive and seemingly could be charged as an accessory. It remains to be seen whether any arrests will occur.
At the very least, it seems likely that the Ramseys could try to sue in civil court over the claims made in the series. That’s a calculation CBS seems to have made — and the network appears ready to fight and prove that its version of events is accurate.

I saw Burke on Dr. Phil the other night. I couldn’t get over the smug smirk he had on his face all the time he was talking. I know it’s been 20 years, but he showed no emotion of being sad that his sister was killed. Is he mentally sound?
Did you also hear Dr Phil explain why Burke acted that way??? The guy has had to hide and live in the shadow of this crime. The family had a lot for others to be jealous of. The father had envious computers that could have taken the most precious thing he had, pageant mothers are extremely jealous and competitive. Pageants also have pedophiles watching. I thought the brother did it after sifting through the evidence. He had already struck her once. I’m still not sure it was an accident. He was jealous of his sister with all the fame and probably Mom paid more attention to JonBenet than Burke due to the beauty contests. He had a lot of anger built up inside and let it out resulting to murder.

If you saw the interview between Burke and the psychologist, he seemed carefree and flippant with his answers. Like he didn’t have a care in the world. all the while snacking on the food put out for him. Edward the reference was of the snack which, even though not stated clearly, must have been on or in a plate or dish. So that would account for the fingerprint reference. Children develop patterns of behavior mostly from 4 to 8 years while growing up. Since Burke has been extremely ” NORMAL ” ever since that would lead me to believe he is intentionally holding his violent outburst behavior in check for the last 20 years. The Ramsey’s did not want both of their children to be removed from their lives so they conspired to stag an intruder scenario. Patsy’s megalomania involving her very young daughter JonBenet, even evident in the chose of her daughters name, caused the underlying hate and lashing out. Being able to hold in that secret must be extremely hard for Burke and will , more than likely, erupt in a tragic incident somewhere down the road life for Burke. The Ramsey’s where just ” NORMAL ” Americans not willing to give up their son to community standards because after all they were in the belief that they were part of the socially elite class.

It’s sad that the little girl is gone, but as in many cases the police just don’t do their job. They put a guy in prison that was accused of killing a lady because he had drawing’s of the devil in his room, while still young the cop’s and lawyers ruined his life. Turned out that a sex offender that lived right across the street from the body was the guy. Yes they paid him a few million dollar’s, but two of the lawyers went on to become judges and were never charged with withholding evidence.. They did start to punish the cop, but I don’t remember what he got.. I know it wasn’t 20 years in jail like the kid got.

The parents were in the home that night. The whole family had been out but when they all returned home the parents did not go out again. They did not leave the children alone!!

The memory of this event and listening to this all over again returns the memory and feeling that most off us who lived there that there was really no other explanation for who killed her other than Burke. Without all this forensic investigation….pie logic would tell us that there was no one….absolutely no one else who could have done it. No one entered the house…no one escaped from the house….it had to be one of the family….. saw Burke on the Dr Phil show and immediately thought that boy is tormented…maybe a little strange and absolutely protected by the parents. The uncomplicated rope knot from the ligature around her neck…the complicated ransom note….where the paper and pen came from the mother’s art supplies…the time it took to write the note…father finds the girl so quickly…..moves the body immediately…….it wasn’t possible for it to be any one else. I agree….Burke will crack some day….take his own life from the guilt….or just come clean because he can’t live with it any longer…..and finally the 911 call with. “What did you do?” And “what did you find”…..had to be him and the parents covered for him.

Right on! You are one of the few sensible people who posted responses. The problem I have, is why the forensic people could not have come to the same deduction you did? It doesn’t take a Philadelphia lawyer to make the same findings. It could only have been the brother. It is the only thing that made sense.
Sadly however, I can identify with the parents. They just lost their daughter, and to find out it was her brother? What can a parent do? Report it to the police? It causes more heartache on the family, that they could also lose their son to Psychiatric treatment or something else. And of course, he would be marked for life. Fast forward. Hover, he is now close to 30 and if he has any decency, he will come forward and admit to the murder and get his “day in court”. As of now, it is unresolved. The story needs to have an ending. Albeit a bad one.
Burke was the spoiled little rich kid that his parents doted on UNTIL his sister arrived. He HAD everything and THEN he was relegated to being #2. Patsy had a second beauty queen life through her daughter Jon Benet. Patsy probably spent 110% of her time with Jon Benet and Burke probably felt abandoned and unwanted. The father wasn’t around enough to make up the loss of attention from Patsy and in Burke’s childish mind; he probably thought that without Jon Benet he’d be #1 again. His actions during his interviews demonstrate how confident he felt without being compared to his sister and had no remorse that his sister wasn’t around anymore. It’s sad that his parents created a ticking time bomb.
These investigators were the best in the business including famed forensic scientist Henry Lee! And they all came to the same conclusion: The Ramsey’s concocted a fake and elaborate story to protect their only living child Burke who killed his sister (accidentally or not). This fake story and horrible death scene of Jon Benet Ramsey confused the entire World and probably caused the early death of Mrs.Ramsey! The new revelations by the Police dispatcher Kim Archuleta and her sharp eye and hearing helped the puzzle fit into place! Glad it’s over!

I watched the whole CBS event from start to end. These famous investigators went thru every piece of evidence from top to bottom. They looked at all the members of the Ramsey family, only after the conclusions of others were exasperated. First they looked at the cause of her death, which they concluded was by blunt object trauma to the skull, then they figured out it was a flashlight hit to the skull that killed the child, then and only then did they start to figure out who actually did the killing and why. What charges will be brought who knows, the family has lost a great deal, their daughter,and the mother. If chargers are brought that is the State if Colorado to decide not me

They aren’t telling to whole truth. There were two sets of finger prints on the snack bowl. There was DNA under her fingernails that matched no one in that house. The police ignored the fact that just down the street another little girl had been attacked. The brother was and is a strange kid, but he didn’t do it, In fact he went on Dr. Phill’s to make sure the police would keep looking for the killer. The police were lazy and screwed the whole case up in the beginning….so to save face for their incompetency, they are trying to pin it on an innocent kid. I raised kids, they all fight…..give me a break and do you job right!

This evidence against the boy is scant and entirely circumstantial, it’s unfortunate they’ve seen fit to resurrected this case so long after the death when this same evidence, we’re told, was also available but probably insufficient to put before a jury.
I wish they would leave that poor family alone. It was an accident caused by a fight between children. I am sure jealousy had its role in the sibling rivalry. Mom and Dad…her mom died- heartbroken and grief-stricken. I can’t imagine the burden and continued grief placed on that loving mother, not to mention the years of torment from being blamed for it. The parents tried to protect both of their children as best as possible from an unjust legal system which is totally without compassion for anyone. This little 9 year old boy is now a man, and I can’t imagine the lifelong grief he has had to endure and will always endure. The dad, he lost his little girl and his wife and his son has suffered so very much for all of these years. They will suffer many more due to their losses. I wish the “authorities” would let this alone. Please…let this family alone. Give them time to heal. They aren’t dangerous, they aren’t going to hurt anyone. Putting any of them in prison has no purpose, except to drive them to suicide. We live in a very sickened society whose so called justice system would hurt this family any more. In this story there is John Ramsey and his son, Burke Ramsey. They share this same family trait. They cannot help it. I noticed this about the elder Ramsey when he was being questioned years ago.

A nine year old child could not have done to Jon Benet what the film showed. Siblings fight at times but to suggest without proof that he was the killer is absurd. The Police flubbed the investigation from the beginning and unless they can prove Burke was responsible they shouldn’t make pointless accusations.

I just recently heard that the tablet and pen not only had come from inside the house, but had been replaced, the tablet to the desk and the pen to the kitchen telephone. What intruder not only finds the instruments, and replaces them, but the length of the ransom note would’ve taken some time to write. Also, it was told that the ransom note had been practiced, the other sheets were found. The whole episode of the murder took some time. I also question why the police had not searched the basement thoroughly, but John was allowed to go with his friend and found the body quickly. Also, John carrying the body away from the placement of the body disrupts forensic evidence.
I lived in the town next door to Boulder CO. I went to the Ramsey home and sat out front. I’m psychic and walked into each room in my mind. I saw a dumb waiter that was used to take the little girl down to the basement. I also saw a secret room where someone could hang around until everyone was asleep.It is behind the dining room wall. The older brother was in town and he hid there. I read the palm of the first woman police officer Ms Arndt at my home 6 months prior to this death and she wanted to quit her job and try for another city police department. I said “You have 6 years seniority, don’t give it up.” Her reply,
her boss hated women on the force. They all were given Christmas Day duty and the men were off that day.
Patsy sent her step son away while in high school because of drugs. When he came back he threatened her with “I’ll get you where it hurts.” His grandmother from Atlanta said he was with her over the holidays and she had a plane ticket in her hand. I have read many palms of stus and asked if it was possible to have a blank airline ticket. They all replied it is illegal, yet the one the grandmother held had no name imprinted on it; it was blank. So my opinion is the older brother did it and got away with it. He is now he is 38 years old. I BELIEVE I AM RIGHT ABOUT ALL THIS. I was called by Alex Hunter, DA for the Grand Jury but didn’t have to since the parents were acquitted.

So let me get this straight, there was an older brother to Jon Benet and Burke and he killed Jon Benet to get back at Patsy. I never heard this story before but it is believable.
What I cannot understand is why John and Patsy would cover up for this older brother to Jon Benet and Burke. If this older brother was on drugs and threatened Patsy and killed Jon Benet, seems like John and Patsy would have turned him in !
