A shocking new internal audit has revealed part of the reason seniors on Social Security haven’t gotten the much needed raise they’ve been asking for.
Over a billion dollars in payments were made over the past decade to people without Social Security numbers (SSN) — 17% of which were undocumented noncitizens, according to The Washington Free Beacon.
In other words, over one hundred million dollars intended for retired Americans was being pocketed by illegal immigrants that didn’t earn it.
Still don’t think we need to build a wall?
According to the report, a billion dollars was paid to and estaimted 22,426 beneficiaries that “had representative payee who did not have an SSN, and SSA had not followed its policy to retain the paper application.”
“From April 2006 to September 2016, SSA paid these representative payees about $1 billion. Furthermore, unless it takes corrective action, we estimate SSA will pay these representative payees about $182.5 million in benefits annually,” the report stated.
“17 percent of representative payees in the sample did not have an SSN recorded because they were undocumented noncitizens,” The Washington Free Beacon reported. Illegal immigrants are permitted to collect payments when acting as a representatives for their minor children.
President Donald Trump has promised to crack down on illegal immigrants — and this audit reveals that effort can’t come soon enough.
