Hunter Biden’s daring (but unsurprising) move Wednesday

In December, President Joe Biden’s troubled son Hunter demanded to give testimony at a public hearing instead of a closed-door interview. He even stood on the Capitol steps and defied a congressional subpoena requiring him to testify behind closed doors.

Three months later, Hunter has already given a private interview… and on Wednesday, in a bold (but unsurprising) move he rejected having a public hearing.

Some congressmen have accused Hunter Biden of making impossible demands.

“The House Oversight Committee has called Hunter Biden’s bluff. Hunter Biden for months stated he wanted a public hearing, but now that one has been offered alongside his business associates that he worked with for years, he is refusing to come,” House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said in a statement.

Hunter’s legal team argued that Hunter has already given enough testimony.

“Your blatant planned-for-media event is not a proper proceeding but an obvious attempt to throw a Hail Mary pass after the game has ended. Let me remind you of a statement you made about how witnesses—and specifically Mr. Biden—could satisfy your prior requests,” Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe Lowell wrote in a letter shared with The Daily Caller.

Lowell continued —

At your press conference after the January 10, 2024, Committee hearing to hold Mr. Biden in contempt, you stated: “All we need are people to come in for the depositions and then we’ll be finished. We just need people to show up to the depositions and we’ll wrap this up. Nobody wants to wrap this up more than I do.” Mr. Biden did just as you asked and, as you did when you announced that witnesses could choose depositions, you want to ignore what you said.

Later this month, some of Hunter Biden’s controversial business associates are scheduled to testify to Congress.

Hunter Biden refuses to testify with them.

Comer sees the upcoming hearing as an opportunity for Hunter to address the American people’s serious concerns about his many business deals with hostile foreign powers and his father’s involvement while vice president.

“Parts of Hunter Biden’s testimony contradict the testimonies of Devon Archer, Jason Galanis, and Tony Bobulinski,” Comer said in his statement.

“Next week’s hearing with Hunter Biden and his associates is moving forward and we fully expect Hunter Biden to participate. The American people demand the truth and accountability for the Bidens’ corruption.”

The House is holding the hearing as part of its impeachment inquiry against President Biden. The House Oversight Committee aims to uncover extent of Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s businesses.
