Having just retaken the House, the GOP is preparing to launch investigations into Hunter Biden and his years of controversial business dealings overseas.
And one top-ranked congressman just offered a preview of the coming revelations.
James Comer — the Kentucky Republican chairing the House Oversight Committee — revealed his direct line to businessman Eric Schwerin, a longtime friend and business associate of Hunter.
“He is cooperating with us,” Comer said Thursday evening on Just the News. “His attorneys and my counsel are communicating on a regular basis. Now, I feel confident that he’s going to work with us, and provide us with the information that we have requested.”
Schwerin became especially close to Joe Biden during his vice presidency. The businessman visited the White House at least 27 times during Biden’s tenure as vice president, according to visitor logs reviewed by Fox News in April. He was reportedly even working on the vice president’s taxes, according to a Daily Mail review of emails from Hunter’s laptop.
Outside the vice president’s office, Schwerin involved himself in Hunter’s finances, the subject of an ongoing investigation by federal prosecutors.
Hunter’s ex-wife Kathleen Buhle revealed in a memoir, “Eric [Schwerin] managed almost every aspect of our financial life.”
Now, Schwerin is cooperating with the House Oversight Committee.
“I think that Schwerwin is going to be a very valuable witness for us in this investigation,” Comer told the outlet. “We know individuals, many are cooperating with us now, but others, not so much.”
Comer promised more to come, after some possible subpoenas. The congressman seemed to be focusing on Hunter’s deal with CEFC, a Shanghai conglomerate dealing in energy and financial services.
“We’re going to start subpoenaing people in the private sector, we’re going to start subpoenaing financial institutions to get us the information. And then we’ll go from there,” Comer said.
