Prayers are being sought for our nation’s brave police after violence ripped through their ranks in Dallas, Texas last night.
Crazed, racially-motivated gunmen shot and killed five police officers and wounded seven others in a coordinated attack during a Black Lives Matter protest, authorities said. It appeared to be the deadliest day for U.S. law enforcement since the 2001 terrorist attacks.
One of the gunmen, killed by police, offered chilling final words: He’d planted explosives throughout the city, and the ‘end was coming.’
As of press time, explosives had not been found.
Police Chief David Brown blamed multiple “snipers,” but it was unclear how many shooters were involved. Authorities initially said three suspects were in custody and a fourth dead. He was identified as Michah Xavier Johnson, an Army reserve veteran.

Brown later said police were not certain that all suspects had been located.
Mayor Mike Rawlings said the dead suspect was slain by police using explosives in a parking garage where the man had exchanged gunfire with officers.
Before dying, the police chief said, the dead suspect declared to officers that he was upset about recent shootings and wanted to kill whites, “especially white officers.”
The suspect had also said he was not affiliated with any groups and stated that he acted alone, Brown added.
None of the suspects were identified, and the police chief said he would not disclose any details about them until authorities were sure everyone involved was in custody.
The Associated Press reported that the shooting began about 8:45 p.m. Thursday while hundreds of people were gathered to protest the week’s fatal police shootings in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and suburban St. Paul, Minnesota. Brown told reporters the snipers fired “ambush style” on the officers. Two civilians were also wounded, Rawlings said.
Brown said it appeared the shooters “planned to injure and kill as many officers as they could.” Video from the scene showed protesters marching along a downtown street about half a mile from City Hall when shots erupted and the crowd scattered, seeking cover.
“I think the biggest thing that we’ve had something like this is when JFK died,” resident Jalisa Jackson said early Friday from downtown. Officers crouched beside vehicles, armored SWAT team vehicles arrived and a helicopter hovered overhead.
Demonstrations were held in several other U.S. cities Thursday night to protest the police killings of two more black men: A Minnesota officer on Wednesday fatally shot Philando Castile while he was in a car with a woman and a child, the shooting’s aftermath livestreamed in a widely shared Facebook video. A day earlier, Alton Sterling was shot in Louisiana after being pinned to the pavement by two white officers. That, too, was captured on a cellphone video.
Thursday’s shootings occurred in an area of hotels, restaurants, businesses and some residential apartments only a few blocks from Dealey Plaza, the landmark made famous by the Kennedy assassination.
The scene was chaotic, with officers with automatic rifles on the street corners.
“Everyone just started running,” Devante Odom, 21, told The Dallas Morning News. “We lost touch with two of our friends just trying to get out of there.”
Carlos Harris, who lives downtown, told the newspaper that the shooters “were strategic. It was tap, tap, pause. Tap, tap pause,” he said.
Brown said police don’t have a motivation for the attacks or any information on the suspects. He said they “triangulated” in the downtown area where the protesters were marching and had “some knowledge of the route” they would take.
Video posted on social media appeared to show a gunman at ground level exchanging fire with a police officer who was then felled.
Rawlings said one of wounded officers had a bullet go through his leg as three members of his squad were fatally shot around him.
“He felt that people don’t understand the danger of dealing with a protest,” said Rawlings, who spoke to the surviving officer. “And that’s what I learned from this. We care so much about people protesting, and I think it’s their rights. But how we handle it can do a lot of things. One of the things it can do is put our police officers in harm’s way, and we have to be very careful about doing that.”
Early Friday morning, dozens of officers filled the corridor of the emergency room at Baylor Medical Center, where other wounded officers were taken. The mayor and police chief were seen arriving there.
Four of the officers who were killed were with the Dallas Police Department, a spokesman said. One was a Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer. The agency said in a statement that 43-year-old officer Brent Thompson was the first officer killed in the line of duty since the agency formed a police department in 1989.
“Our hearts are broken,” the statement said.
Theresa Williams said one of the wounded civilians was her sister, 37-year-old Shetamia Taylor.
The identity of the other civilian casualty was not immediately known. Mayor Rawlings said he did not believe either had life-threatening injuries.
Williams said her sister was shot in the right calf and had thrown herself over her four sons, ages 12 to 17, when the shooting began.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to offer “whatever assistance the City of Dallas needs.”
“In times like this we must remember – and emphasize – the importance of uniting as Americans,” Abbott said.
Other protests across the U.S. on Thursday were peaceful, including in New York, Atlanta, Chicago and Philadelphia. In Minnesota, where Castile was shot, hundreds of protesters marched in the rain from a vigil to the governor’s official residence.
President Barack Obama said America is “horrified” over the shootings and there’s no possible justification for the attacks. He called them “vicious, calculated and despicable.”
Speaking from Warsaw, Poland, where he was meeting with leaders of the European Union and attending a NATO summit, the president asked all Americans to pray for the fallen officers and their families and said the nation should express its gratitude to law enforcement.
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, which tracks on-duty deaths, said the fatal shootings made Thursday the deadliest day for U.S. police since Sept. 11.

I saw on a news that the area of this terrible crime is near the old Texas School Book Depository Building where the JFK tragedy happened 53 years ago. A sad coincidence that 2 of the USA’s most horrible crimes happened in the same place. Sad.

Anyone with a gun should be respected. When I get stopped for a traffic violation I put both hands on the steering wheel where the cop can see them. If people use a little common sense they will have no problem. This incident just shows why cops have been more careful and sensitive to the risk of being shot by some criminal/gang member he stops. Good cops need to get rid of bad cops and not protect them. There are bad apples in every profession. And looking at politicians there are no good apples.

Hope that all the suspects were checked for gun powder residue. A simple but historic CSI method to determine if a person was a shooter. This may be important in their trials if they are indicted. If any were Clintons they will not be prosecuted since all Clinton’s are ignorant and therefore not prosecutable.
Apparently all the shooters were black, however this has not stated in any of the articles I have read or any of the newscasts I have heard. If they were black then this appears to be racially motivated and inspired by White House Resident Barack “Insane” Obama’s rhetoric.

I am so tired of the “catch phrase” rogue police officers. When police officers leave their homes and families every day, they have no idea what they are are going to face that day. They have to make split second life and death decisions. Unfortunately, sometimes those decisions end in someone losing their life. Most of the time, the one losing their life (regardless of their color) made a choice that forced a police officer to make one of those split second decisions.
Useless deaths and it’s horrible to know despite your color or profession that a person can feel Entitled to take another’s life on either end of the spectrum.

Race was the issue in that time and odd that this all kicked in after the UN and the Muslim leaders all decided our guns needed to go… Are the politicians afraid of the people? To the point they’d pull stunts for control.? Think everybody has saw them destroy America in action. Welfare and free ain’t nothing but more control over the people. After Mt.Saint Helen burped, American industry run over to China. Opening the borders, unrest among the people, Mexican drug cartels moving up, now Isis coming in. Is it a kill off, get people to kill each other, the fewer people, the more control… A national disaster with fault lines and volcanoes, if there were survivors, where would they go… There are the ideas that America would be split in half from the Great Lakes to the Gulf.

I cannot understand how the police could shoot a man in a car, with occupants, when he stated he had a gun. The officer had his gun pointed at him. He could have waited to see if he was going for the gun. It makes sense to me.
In LA the man was on the ground subdued. Why did the officer have to shoot him. Where is the taser? It makes no sense.
Could these be “false flag” operations? Remember, a crisis has to manufactured. Then the death blow can be offered.

I do not believe police are “trigger happy”. Let’s back up and check the FACTS prior to any officer having to use a weapon, not just that final act. It appears that the transgressors had been involved in illegal activity or at least questionable activity prior but that information is usually not provided. In a closed car dealership beating out windows?? Stealing from a neighborhood store, roughing up the clerk and running from the law when ordered to STOP? Breaking into a private pool without proper permission or passes? Trespassing ! It seems odd that none of the Black Lives Matter leaders were on TV condemning the Dallas carnage or expressing their condolences for the officers killed or injured. The same police officers they hate wound up dying to help protect BLM’s freedoms. The wounded and dead officers were heroes. The deafening silence from Black Lives Matter leaders says a lot about this movement and its mindset.
In time hopefully the world will know how many of these snipers were part of the BLM movement. Black lives should matter but the group seems to be more interested in chaos and troublemaking than in accomplishing anything positive for black Americans.

If this crap keeps up, I can see where we’re going to have a spate of “unlawful assembly” countermeasures. People are supposed to secure permission to hold a rally or public gathering.
