Gunman opens fire on Christian church

Gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a church near Cairo on Thursday, setting off a gun battle with police. Egypt’s official news agency said no one was killed.

The MENA news agency said the three attackers escaped after the firefight. It said police guarding the evangelical church near the Giza pyramids were left with scrapes and bruises.

Attacks on churches and Egypt’s Christian minority have increased over the past decade as tensions have grown with the country’s Muslim majority, sometimes exacerbated by officials.

Egypt’s Coptic Christians have long complained of being treated like second-class citizens. They now make up about 10 percent of a population of around 90 million, making them the largest Christian community in the Middle East.

Radical Muslims are determined to rid “their” lands of Christians–even though Christians have lived in Egypt for centuries longer than Islam has been around. Muslims complain about the “Crusaders” but very few people (Muslim OR Christian) understand that the Crusades were undertaken to protect Christians from the Islamic onslaught. Centuries ago, Muslims conquered their way to the very gates of Europe and were only stopped by the intervention of God. Islam is a religion of conquest and the radicals among them (and there are more all the time) will not rest until they have stolen the goods and land of those they consider their inferiors. That is the nature of Islam–the “religion of peace”. Reflect on the difference between Christ and Mohammed to understand that Christ is truly the “Prince of Peace” while Mohammed was a man with a great deal blood on his hands. The Quran urges the followers of Mohammed to wage war on “infidels”. Christ urged His followers to “pray for those who despitefully use you”. The early Church would ex-communicate Christians who joined the Roman army because the Roman army was seen as an army of conquest. But Christians have always held to the right of self-defense, and considering that there are 1.3 billion Muslims in the world, we are wise to be wary. Only fools welcome radical Muslims (who are determined to steal and conquer) into their midst. Why do you think that many of them were refused entry into more moderate Islamic countries? Are you listening, European Union?

I served two tours of vietnam in order to have the freedom we have. I feel if muslims want to kill anyone who is not muslim then maybe the tides should change. Maybe we should start killing them. Capt. USMC 1968-1973
