Outspoken MAGA Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has quietly spent the past few weeks breaking with many of her Republican lawmakers — including President Donald Trump.
And her fellow, outspoken colleague on the other side of the aisle — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) seems to know exactly why it’s happening.
AOC claimed yesterday during an election day interview that Trump blocked Greene from running for Georgia’s Senate seat next year, prompting Greene’s ongoing “revenge tour” against the GOP and other MAGA lawmakers.
Ocasio-Cortez made the comments during an Instagram livestream, telling her followers, “Here’s some tea for you. MTG, people are like, ‘Oh my God, she’s saying all these things, like, what’s gotten into her lately?’ ‘Oh, like, she’s bucking against Trump, she’s bucking against the administration.'”
“Marjorie Taylor Greene wanted to run for Senate in Georgia. She wanted to run for Senate earlier this year in the state of Georgia. She wanted to be the Republican nominee for Senate. So, she was gearing up for that statewide race, and Trump told her no,” she continued.
“Trump said no, and the White House and Trump Land shut down Marjorie Taylor Greene’s personal ambitions to run for Senate — and she has been on a revenge tour ever since,” AOC added.
Greene said in May she would not seek Georgia’s Senate seat next year, opting against a challenge to Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff.
“Even with a few good Republicans in the Senate, nothing changes,” Greene wrote on X at the time. “So no, Jon Ossoff isn’t the real problem. He’s just a vote. A pawn. No different than the Uniparty Republicans who skip key votes to attend fundraisers and let our agenda fail.”
AOC’s stunning claim comes in lockstep with Greene stepping up criticism of GOP leadership in recent weeks, taking aim at the party’s approach to health care and the ongoing government shutdown — even as Republicans control both Congress and the White House.
Last month during an interview with The Washington Post, Greene said that “a lot of” male Republicans in Congress are “weak” and intimidated by “strong Republican women.”
Greene has continued to escalate her feud with fellow GOP party leaders during the ongoing federal government shutdown.
During her interview, Greene argued that GOP women are sidelined while “weak” men are rewarded, singling out Speaker Mike Johnson’s leadership and contrasting it with former Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s.
While a vocal conservative who is known for her “America first” platform, Green also said she’s backed Democratic-led efforts to extend certain health-care subsidies and is pushing to force a vote to release Justice Department files related to Jeffrey Epstein — moves Johnson and President Donald Trump oppose.
“There’s a lot of weak Republican men and they’re more afraid of strong Republican women,” Greene said.
“So they always try to marginalize the strong Republican women that actually want to do something and actually want to achieve.”
Greene also stunned Republicans during an appearance Tuesday on “The View” where she broke repeatedly with Trump and the GOP during her sit-down — calling for “women of maturity” to unite.
“I’m sitting here just stumped, you know, because you are a very different person than I thought,” raved co-host Sunny Hostin, who typically attacks Republican officials. “You’ve gone so right, it’s like you’re on the left now.”
Greene acknowledged during the appearance that the audience expected her to fight against Democratic lawmakers. But Greene received applause and the interview didn’t once devolve into a shouting match, as she called for women to unite.
“Women to women, we need to pave a new path,” Greene told the hosts. “This country, our beautiful country, our red, white and blue flag, is just being ripped to shreds, and I think it takes women of maturity to sew it back together.”
