Gavin Newsom busted in ugly lie about 5-year-old girl

To prepare for his inevitable 2028 presidential campaign, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has moved from California to try and grab the national spotlight.

It is going very poorly for Newsom, who was just busted in another nasty lie.

Phone records obtained by The Daily Caller show that Newsom’s office received a call from the father of Dalilah Coleman — the young girl President Donald Trump honored at last month’s State of the Union — directly contradicting repeated claims from Newsom’s staff that they had no record of the family ever reaching out.

Dalilah was five years old on June 20, 2024, when an illegal immigrant from India drove an 18-wheel tractor-trailer and smashed into her family’s vehicle near Adelanto, California. The illegal immigrant was speeding recklessly and failed to stop for traffic in a construction zone.

The crash hospitalized Dalilah and stepdad, Michael Krause. Dalilah was airlifted to the hospital after she suffered skull fractures, a broken femur, and a traumatic brain injury. She spent three weeks in a coma and six months in the hospital before her family could bring her home. During that time, she underwent a craniectomy and was without half of her skull for four months.

She has since been diagnosed with diplegic cerebral palsy and developmental delay, and will require lifelong therapy and care. She was left unable to walk, talk, or eat on her own, and missed the start of kindergarten.

Partap Singh had illegally crossed the southern border in October 2022 but was released into the country by the Biden administration. California’s Department of Motor Vehicles — under Newsom — issued him a commercial driver’s license.

In the days after the crash, Dalilah’s father, Marcus Coleman, called and emailed Newsom’s office seeking help. Newsom claimed his office has zero records of any outreach from the Coleman family.

The phone logs tell a different story.

“It would be equivalent to somebody cold calling because I called them and I explained to them what was going on,” Coleman told The Daily Caller. “They said that they would take the phone message, so I did that and then I also sent them an email, and then I received nothing back on either one.”

Newsom never bothered to respond to Coleman’s pleas for help.

ICE arrested Singh on August 29, 2025, in Fresno, California, on a warrant for his arrest. He has remained in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.

“My daughter and family’s lives have been forever changed by the injuries and car crash that an illegal alien driving an 18-wheeler caused,” Coleman said in a statement released by DHS. “Governor Newsom’s California Department of Motor Vehicles needs to put in place stricter standards for who can obtain a commercial driver’s license before more people are killed and hurt.”

On February 24, Trump brought Coleman and his daughter to the State of the Union, where he told their story before a joint session of Congress.

“Dalilah Coleman was only five years old in June 2024 when an eighteen-wheeler tractor-trailer plowed into her stopped car at sixty miles an hour or more,” Trump said. “The driver was an illegal alien let in by Joe Biden and given a commercial driver’s license by open borders politicians in California.”

Coleman told Fox News the rhetoric from lawmakers who support open borders and illegal immigration was out of line.

“At this point right now, what they’re doing is extremely disrespectful. It’s insensitive,” he said. “Until it happens to them, that’s the point of view they’re going to have.”

Following Trump’s State of the Union, Sen. Jim Banks, R-Ind., introduced the “Dalilah Law,” which would ban states from issuing commercial driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, revoke existing CDLs issued to illegal immigrants, and require that CDL knowledge and skills tests be administered only in English.
