Fox News star Dan Bongino left the network on April 15 after the network failed to extend his contract, he announced Thursday. Bongino even said that he declined the opportunity to do “one last show.”
For nearly a decade, Bongino has been making guest appearances on Fox News after careers in local police and the U.S. Secret Service. He also ran for Congress three times between 2012 and 2016.

In 2021, he began hosting a permanent program, Unfiltered with Don Bongino, on Saturday nights at 9. He also hosted Canceled in the U.S.A. on the streaming service Fox Nation.
He’s earned comparisons to Rush Limbaugh, another huge draw for talk radio.
“Regretfully, last week was my last show on Fox News, on the Fox News Channel,” Bongino said on his podcast Thursday. “It’s tough. It’s tough to say that. You know, I’ve been there doing hits and working there for ten years.”
Bongino’s timing raised eyebrows. He is leaving the network after its nearly $800 million settlement toward a manufacturer of voting machines, and he had previously threatened to quit during the vaccine mandate.
However, Bongino cited a failed contract re-negotiation as his reason for leaving. He and Fox reportedly wanted different terms for a contract extension.
“I want you to know it’s not some big conspiracy. I promise you. There’s no acrimony. This wasn’t some WWE brawl that happened. We just couldn’t come to terms on an extension,” Bongino said. “You’re going to read a thousand left-wing articles about some nonsense, and I’m guaranteeing you on my reputation, it is all made up. It’s a simple contract thing, and that’s it. It is no more complicated than that.”
For April 22, Fox News reportedly plans to fill the 9 p.m. timeslot with Lawrence Jones Cross Country, followed by an encore of Gutfeld. The network will announce a new schedule “in the coming weeks,” according to a press release obtained by The Hill.

Fox News expressed warm wishes to Bongino in a statement.
“We thank Dan for his contributions and wish him success in his future endeavors,” the network reportedly said in a press release.
