Forget 2020 — President Trump is already in the lead in 2024.
But not Donald Trump.
According to experts, President Donald Trump appears poised to win reelection in November — and forward thinkers are already looking ahead toward 2024 to ask conservative voices about their next presidential pick.
And the results, according to a SurveyMonkey poll for Axios, show many Republicans-leaning voters want to see the White House stay in familiar hands.
They’d like to see a Trump take over for Trump.
Approximately 2,000 conservative voters were surveyed. Among them, 16 percent said they would vote for Ivanka Trump and 29 percent said they’d like to see Donald Trump Jr. win the 2024 presidential primary. Both Trump children were ranked among the top four among all possible options.
It is unclear whether Trump Jr. or senior White House advisor Ivanka have aspirations to run for president in 2024.
Both have said they’re focused on winning their father’s reelection in 2020, however.
In November 2019, Trump Jr. when asked about the prospect of a future run told CBS News rather bluntly: “I’m interested in winning 2020 for my father right now. We’ll worry about everything else later.”
“Listen,” he went on, “I don’t ever rule anything out. The reality is this: Right now, I like the campaigning part. I actually enjoy some of that fight. I like getting out there and being with real people and seeing the difference that my father and his policies are making in their lives. I don’t know right now at this stage of my life that I would like the day job component of it.”
The poll results don’t mean much, of course. But they do confirm the lasting popularity of the Trump family among conservative voters.
Axios claimed that the early survey mostly serves as a measurement of Trump’s brand recognition — after all, a crowd of San Antonians once broke out in a “2024!” chant in front of a grinning Trump Jr.
On top of the poll was right-hand man Vice President Mike Pence, who garnered 40 percent of Republican-leaning voters. That comes as no surprise to political insiders; many experts predict that he is already doing some very early 2024 campaign planning.
Also receiving a high number of votes were former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-F.L. (26 percent and 15 percent, respectively)
Haley, experts predict, will also be a surefire contender ahead of 2024.
