Despite the disruption, Scheffler maintained his composure, narrowly missing a 26-foot putt from the fringe before tapping in for par. Kim responded with a clutch 10-foot birdie putt, forcing a playoff as both players finished at 22-under 258.
For the playoff, officials relocated the hole on the 18th green to avoid the areas affected by the protest. Scheffler’s approach shot landed 11 feet from the pin, while Kim found trouble in a front bunker. Kim’s bogey opened the door for Scheffler, who secured the win with a two-putt par.
This victory adds to Scheffler’s impressive run in 2023, which includes wins at the Masters and The Players Championship.
It marks his fourth triumph in the PGA Tour’s new $20 million signature events, earning him a $3.6 million payday.
