Vice President Kamala Harris’ first address to supporters since her disasterious election performance on Tuesday quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons.
Was Harris, who is currently on vacation in Hawaii, visibly drunk?
Former campaign advisers have recently revealed they never saw a clear path to victory for Harris over President-elect Donald Trump.
During a National Grassroots Call with former running mate Gov. Tim Walz, Harris acknowledged the disappointment facing Democratic supporters.
“The outcome of this election obviously is not what we wanted. It is not what we worked so hard for. But I am proud of the race we ran, and your role in this was critical. What we did in 107 days was unprecedented,” Harris said.
One critic said she appeared very intoxicated in the “bizarre drunk video.” Others said that Harris was “totally hosed.”
The Harris’ failed campaign efforts included knocking on 19 million doors, making 215 million phone calls, and blowing through over $1.5 billion in donor cash… and leaving the DNC so broke that mass layoffs occurred just weeks later.
“Think about the coalition that we built and we were so intentional about that… I know and believe that the best movements that are about progress in our means that it’s leaders that you, that we, are dedicated to the coalition,” Harris said in the video.
But senior campaign adviser David Plouffe revealed on Pod Save America podcast that internal polling never showed Harris leading Trump.
“We were hopeful. I don’t know how optimistic we were, but we thought, OK, this is tied, and if a couple things break our way [we could win],” Plouffe said. He expressed surprise at public polls showing Harris ahead, noting, “there was these public polls that came out in late September, early October, showing us with leads that we never saw.”
In her strange ten-minute address, Harris urged supporters not to lose heart.
“I know that this is an uncertain time, I’m clear-eyed about that. I know you’re clear-eyed about it, and it feels heavy. I just have to remind you, don’t you ever let anybody take your power from you. You have the same power that you did before November 5 and you have the same purpose that you did,” she said, appearing to slur her words.

The vice president avoided addressing Democratic criticisms of her badly failed campaign, and did not talk about the party’s future direction, leading even supporters to question the point of the appearance.
Plouffe and other advisers that Harris’ campaign knew they were badly losing is a sharp disconnect between the campaign’s public messaging and private assessments during the election’s final months.
“We didn’t get the breaks we needed on Election Day,” Plouffe admitted.
