Dr. Anthony Fauci is long-gone from his post at The White House and his days of being America’s COVID-19 czar are over.
But that doesn’t mean the scandals — and money — continue to follow Fauci around.
Even well into his “retirement” days.
In fact, a series of new financial disclosures reveal the Fauci’s latest line of work continues to help him get richer.
According to a 141-page financial disclosure obtained by Open The Books, a government watchdog group, Fauci earned $3.5 million in his first year of retirement from government.
The disclosures also revealed that Fauci received several six-figure deposits through 2023 totaling $1.15 million, though they do not describe the source of the deposits.
Insiders say that despite Fauci’s tarnished reputation since leaving his federal post with the NIH, his “celebrity” status so-to-speak has helped him earn a lot of money.
According to the latest report, Fauci sold his memoir to a subsidiary of Penguin Random House for a reported $5 million in March 2023.
The massive book deal coincided with a March 2023 congressional memo showing Fauci had privately “prompted” an influential paper dismissing the theory that COVID could have resulted from a lab accident.
Shortly therafter, on July 1, 2023, Fauci began an appointment at Georgetown University as distinguished university professor in both the School of Medicine and School of Public Policy.
The Open the Books documents also noted that Fauci’s final government salary totaled a whopping $480,654 — the highest salary earned by any of the roughly 2.4 million employees who work for the federal government, including the president.
Like most high-level government employees at his rank, Fauci continues to accept a six-figure pension.
His annual pension is estimated to be at least $375,000, according to Open the Books. By this year, Open the Books projected that figure would reach $414,000 per year.
Fauci’s net worth roughly doubled from $7.6 million the year prior to the COVID-19 pandemic in January 2019 to $15 million in 2023.
Fauci’s retirement riches could have been more as he also received taxpayer-funded transportation and security detail via the U.S. Marshals Service as a private citizen in 2023.
These services came after he retired and were provided between January 4, 2023, and September 20, 2024, according to Open the Books.

However, in late January, President Donald Trump confirmed that he has terminated the security detail provided to Fauci.
“I think, you know, when you work for government, at some point your security detail comes off and, you know, you can’t have them forever,” Trump said at a press conference at the time.
“We took some off other people, too, but you can’t have a security detail for the rest of your life because you work for government,” he added.
