Top Democratic leaders are increasing pressure on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race amid growing concerns about Biden’s electability and his slowed cognitive functions.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., allegedly had a “blunt one-on-one conversation” with Biden in Rehoboth, Delaware, urging him to bow out of the race. Schumer’s office, while not confirming specifics, acknowledged that the leader “conveyed the views of his caucus.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., has reportedly expressed similar sentiments to Biden. — and the fact that both Democratic leaders have approached the president signals that his campaign may soon come to an end.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign has noticed — and took a devastating shot at the Biden camp in a statement on Wednesday.
When asked about a debate between Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance and the Democratic Party’s vice presidential candidate, Trump campaign advisor Brian Hughes said nothing can be scheduled — because no one knows who Vance will be debating.

Schumer and Jefferies join a long list of powerful Democratic Party insiders that have demanded Biden withdraw from the race in recent weeks.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has also been active in this push. She reportedly showed Biden polling data indicating his poor election prospects and warned that Democratic lawmakers might become more vocal about his political weaknesses. Pelosi’s allies said she will soon publicly call for Biden’s withdrawal if private efforts fail.
Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., added to the pressure by warning donors that Democrats risk losing not only the White House but also down-ballot races if Biden remains the nominee.
His stark assessment: “I think if he is our nominee, I think we lose.”
These moves by party leaders reflect broader concerns within the Democratic ranks. Recent polls show nearly two-thirds of Democrats believe Biden should withdraw.
Despite this mounting pressure, Biden has publicly remained defiant. The White House maintains that he is the party’s nominee and plans to win. However, reports suggest Biden has privately asked advisers about Vice President Kamala Harris’s chances if he were to step aside.
As the 2024 election approaches, the only thing clear is that the Democratic Party is in utter chaos. The coming weeks may prove decisive in determining whether Biden continues his re-election bid or if the desperate Dems make an unprecedented mid-campaign shift.
