“On the Holmes Front” with Frank Holmes
President Donald Trump has been building a solid foundation for an America First presidency—and he just laid down the cornerstone of his second administration by undoing one of former President Joe Biden’s biggest mistakes.
He’s begun rebuilding the big, beautiful wall on the southern border that Biden had halted.
U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks announced his agents “began installing 18-foot-tall border wall panels in the Rio Grande Valley Sector’s Hidalgo County” on Wednesday.
“The panels going in today will replace the six-foot guard rails and will provide impedance and denial capabilities in support of the President’s recent Executive Orders to ensure complete operational control of the Southern border.”
Not only has he started, but he plans to finish the wall this time—and like everything in his second administration, he’s doing it fast.

“The president’s hope is that by the end of the term we build the entire border wall,” announced Vice President J.D. Vance during his visit to the southern border on Wednesday. “That’s how we’re going to protect the American people’s security.”
“Border security is national security,” agreed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth just before he and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard accompanied Vance to Eagle Pass, Texas.
Journalists immediately questioned whether the vice president’s vow to fulfill the president’s definitive campaign promise so soon is feasible.
“It absolutely is. It’s going to need resources,” Ronald Vitiello, a CBP senior adviser, told Fox Business host Stuart Varney late Friday morning.
For President Trump, it’s a huge step of reclamation and revenge. President Trump built 458 miles of border wall during his first term, unveiling plans to build 300 in 2020.
But the new Biden-Harris administration canceled the whole project, including the 18-foot-tall panels being installed now.
The renewed wall construction is just one example of how the second Trump administration plans to get a chokehold on the out-of-control border…and the efforts are already paying off.
There were 100,000 fewer illegal crossings at the Mexican border this January than the same time last year. There were 61,465 in January—and Joe Biden was still president for 19 and a half of those days.
All indicators show illegal aliens have decided it’s not worth trying to enter the U.S. with Donald Trump in the Oval Office. The Border Patrol recorded only 8,450 illegal border crossings in February—about as many as the Biden administration had in one day.
“The February numbers are the lowest recorded since FY 2000, the earliest year of monthly data publicly accessible,” reported Axios.
“Amid Trump crackdown, illegal border crossings plunge to levels not seen in decades,” admitted the Trump-hating CBS News.
“The Invasion of our Country is OVER,” said President Trump on Truth Social last Saturday.
“The Trump Effect is here,” proclaimed the House Committee on Homeland Security.
“After less than a month, the American people can already see the impacts of the Trump administration’s efforts to restore sovereignty at our borders,” said Chairman Rep. Mark E. Green, R-Fla.
The change is down to one reason: “President Trump has kept his promises to the American people to secure the border. He wasted no time in reversing the disastrous policies of the Biden-Harris administration that brought criminal illegal aliens into communities across our nation,”said Rep. Michael Guest, R-N.J. “The actions taken by President Trump to secure our border and make America safe again have been nothing less than historic, including by reducing illegal border crossings by over 60 percent in his first week in office alone.”
It’s true that the Biden administration immediately opened the southern border: welding the walls on the door open, cutting razor-wire barriers erected by the state of Texas, and selling off the building materials of the wall at a loss.
But even Joe Biden couldn’t live in an alternate reality forever.
By 2022, Joe Biden (or whoever ran his administration) quietly restarted the building of the border wall. Administration spokespeople reconciled the president’s two contrasting positions by saying he was only filling gaps between the walls, reinforcing structures, and putting in drains. But the move came as Biden wanted to run for re-election and hoped to cut down the unprecedented number of illegal border crossings before reopening the flood gates.
He wasn’t the only one to pivot on the border. As a presidential hopeful, Kamala Harris promised, “I’m not gonna vote for a (border) wall under any circumstances.”
By the end of her desperate 2024 campaign, Democrtaic candidate Harris resorted to featuring the remaining sections of Trump’s border wall in her campaign ads—and seemed to claim credit for building it while she was the state attorney general of California.

The American people made their voices heard in November—and President Trump has said he will run his administration by a simple phrase: “Promises made, promises kept.”
The president took a victory lap in front of the entire Congress on Tuesday night.
“The media and our friends in the Democrat Party kept saying, ‘We needed new legislation! !e must have legislation to secure the border,’” said President Trump. “But it turned out that all we really needed was a new president.”

But a big, beautiful wall won’t hurt, either.
