President Donald Trump said Wednesday he is directing all federal law enforcement to assist in the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC’s “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, who was kidnapped from home over the weekend in Tucson, Arizona.
Trump called the Guthrie family on Wednesday after an interview with NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Llamas and told her that every available federal resource would be at the disposal of her family and local law enforcement.
The president posted his commitment on Truth Social Wednesday night.
“I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family’s, and Local Law Enforcement’s, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY,” Trump said. “We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely. The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT NANCY!”
Savannah Guthrie said the family needs prayers more than anything, and thanked the president for the hard work of local and federal authorities on the case.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen Saturday around 9:45 p.m. when family members dropped her off at her home in the Catalina Foothills area after dinner. She was reported missing Sunday around noon when the 84-year-old never arrived at her normal church services.
Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Kevin Adger told the Los Angeles Times that investigators believe Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home “possibly in the middle of the night, and that includes possible kidnapping or abduction.”
Authorities found blood trail outside the home, and her doorbell camera was missing when police arrived to search her home on Sunday.
The sheriff’s department said Wednesday that investigators have not identified a suspect or person of interest in the case.
“We have nothing else to go on but the belief that she is here, she’s present, she’s alive, and we want to save her,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said.
“This is not dementia-related. She’s as sharp as a tack,” Nanos said. “The family wants everyone to know that this isn’t someone who just wandered off.”
Multiple media organizations reported receiving purported ransom notes. TMZ, and local Arizona stations KGUN and KOLD, each reported receiving notes demanding millions in Bitcoin for Nancy Guthrie’s return. The notes included a deadline and referenced specific items found at the crime scene.
Savannah Guthrie and her two siblings, Annie and Camron, posted an emotional video on Instagram Wednesday evening, directly addressing anyone holding their mother. The three sat together as Savannah read from prepared remarks.
“We are doing everything we can,” Savannah Guthrie said. “However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us.”
The Guthrie siblings thanked the public for prayers.
“We feel them, and we continue to believe that she feels them, too,” Savannah Guthrie said.

The FBI is assisting Pima County authorities with the investigation. About 100 detectives from the sheriff’s office are working on the case.
Savannah Guthrie was not at the Today show anchor’s desk this week. NBC Sports said Tuesday she will not be covering the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics as she focuses on being with her family during this difficult time.
Anyone with information on Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is asked to call the FBI tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.
