Dems FURIOUS over Trump’s Sec. of Defense nomination

Liberals aren’t happy with President-elect Donald Trump’s newest Secretary of Defense, retired Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis, because he’s not nice to jihadists.

No, really.

In 2005, leftist were in an uproar when Mattis told a San Diego forum that he didn’t mind shooting Islamic extremists.

When questioned about war, the Marine general said. “Actually, it’s a lot of fun to fight. You know, it’s a hell of a hoot. … It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up front with you, I like brawling.”

He added, “You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil,” Mattis continued. “You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them.”

It’s the exact reason conservatives and veterans both love Mattis — they seem to prefer soldiers and Marines to have bravado and not be scared to fight.

Mattis will be the first career officer to lead the Pentagon since just after World War II, a Marine Corps general who retired in 2013 after serving as commander of the U.S. Central Command, responsible for directing America’s wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Trump, who has referred to Mattis by his nickname “Mad Dog,” made the announcement of his choice for defense secretary at a postelection victory rally Thursday night in Cincinnati.

For Mattis to be confirmed, Congress would first have to approve legislation bypassing a law that bars retired military officers from becoming defense secretary within seven years of leaving active duty.

Mattis has a reputation as a battle-hardened, tough-talking Marine who was entrusted with some of the most challenging commands in the U.S. military. In a tweet last month, Trump described him as “A true General’s General!”

Mattis would be only the second retired general to serve as defense secretary, the first being George C. Marshall in 1950-51 during the Korean War. Marshall was a much different figure, having previously served as U.S. secretary of state and playing a key role in creating closer ties with Western Europe after World War II.

The only previous exception to the law requiring a gap after military service was for Marshall.

Richard Fontaine, president of the Center for a New American Security, described him as a defense intellectual and as a military leader who distinguished himself in combat.

“He knows the Middle East, South Asia, NATO and other areas and has evinced both a nuanced approach to the wars we’re in and an appreciation for the importance of allies,” Fontaine said in an email exchange. “If he were to get the nomination, I suspect that he could attract a number of very talented people to work with him.”

Born in Pullman, Washington, Mattis enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1969, later earning a history degree from Central Washington University. He was commissioned as an officer in 1972. As a lieutenant colonel, he led an assault battalion into Kuwait during the first U.S. war with Iraq in 1991.

As head of Central Command from 2010 until his retirement in 2013, he was in charge of both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, Mattis commanded the Marines who launched an early amphibious assault into Afghanistan and established a U.S. foothold in the Taliban heartland.

As the first wave of Marines moved toward Kandahar, Mattis declared, “The Marines have landed, and now we own a piece of Afghanistan.”

Two years later, he helped lead the invasion into Iraq in 2003 as the two-star commander of the 1st Marine Division.

            Susan ,when you are in the service ,you are at the mercy of those who are in the Government leadership. You follow their policy.Rules of engagement has hurt our military and has kept their actions in combat limited.I am a Vietnam Era Vet and am well aware of what the politicians did for the military in that war.Hanoi was about a week away from throwing in the towel ,when our heavy bombing was suddenly stopped because of the people back home.I could say more here but I will leave it at that.

            Mattis is a strong individual that was not allowed to do what was needed to get the job done right. The political influence in this country and by UN since the Korean conflict has cost us the lives of our finest men and women and our reputation. It is time that we have a Strong government that will do what is necessary when all these terrorist and anti Americans want to start a fight with us and we need to finish it and make sure that they will not be back.         Hopefully, he will use modern warfare and not be like MacArthur, running thousands of foot soldiers up a beach with a deeply entrenched enemy dug in and waiting to mow down wave after wave of our precious marines who are ordered to storm the beach.         General Mathis is the guy for me. Candy assed Generals get nothing done but spout a lot of hot air. Try these facts on for size! When President Harry S. Truman turned the Atomic Bomb on the Japanese he was my hero. Then the bastard ignored his own General, Douglas MacArthur, by, in effect, granting a million Chinese mercenaries sanctuery North of the Yalu River. Result, today we live with the North Koreans; first with Kim Jong Il. And now with his mental case offspring Kim Jong Un. Another example of a General more interested in being Politically Correct then finishing the job he started was Dwight D. Eisenhower. When the S**T hit the fan Ike called on Blood & Guts General George S. Patton and his Third Army to get the job done and THAT HE DID, IN SPADES!!!! Patton was prescient in predicting what would happen with the Soviet Union if we didn’t,t finish the job we started. From everything I’ve read about “Mad Dog” Mathis he’s got the onions to get the job done that many of those who came before him sorely lacked, The only area in which we disagree is his two state solution for Israel v. The Palestinians. These people, the Palestinians are sub-human and couldn’t be trusted as far as I could throw a Grand Piano.

        Well he did a survey (of his family) and came to the conclusion that the whole 53% percent of his family thinks he is doing a good job.(survey audience was, wife, two daughters, couple of dogs.) We finally get rid of that person in the White House who has, for their entire stay in that place, been so anti senior military that it borders on and may cross that line between antipatriotic and the T word.       I would normally agree that if the libs hate him he must be alright, but if it is true that he thinks killing is fun, that is scary. Although I believe that killing is necessary sometimes, especially where radical Islam is concerned, (ISIS and radical Islamists have no qualms about killing anybody and everybody, including children), someone who thinks killing is fun is not a very mature person and not the one for the job, because killing is horrible, and should always remain horrible, even though many times it is necessary to protect the innocent. We need to find a man that values human life but will do what it takes to wipe out ISIS, and other threats that can not be reasoned with, we need a mature General, this guy sounds like a boy or teenager who thinks it’s fun to shoot people, like it is some big video game.

All of my friends are also happy with what Mr. Trump is doing. It appears that a lot of people just don’t get that his people do need to some knowledge, experience and success in the area these people will be working in. Would you choose a college graduate with a master’s degree in English literature to perform heart surgery on you? Should he be picking people off the street who don’t have a clue about the area they will be working? That makes absolutely no sense at all!!

    I am certainly no military expert. My older brother was an ace in World War 11 and I listened to many of his stories and being young at the time could not believe some of the things he was saying, which as I grew older I realized they were true.

    Patton once said, and I quote, ” Never tell people how to do things. Tell them WHAT to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.” This is true yet today, especially in our military, problem is they have been held down from doing their job by a spineless, corrupt Congress and Senate and a Fascist President !       This a good quote from Patton, who wanted to used the resources of his subordinates. I am a “Cold War Veteran,” serving 38.5 years in Army National Guard. I do not understand the announcements of a time and date for an attack, so the enemy is never surprised. All Marines are first Infantry and understand all the elements of warfare. We need the experience of this General in this critical time of our history. I am in favor of helping our allies secure their countries. But, my greatest concern is the lack of Homeland borders, where the enemy has ready access to walk in, bringing “whatever?” We need a Secretary of Defence, who is cognent of our country’s security needs, also.

We have many men in our family who have served in the Military over decades of time, and we can NOT understand our past Presidents willing to give away the country we fought so hard to keep safe.     As a former Marine of seven (7) years I’ve known some tough officers… i.e. ‘Chesty Puller’… my opinion is that ‘Mad Dog’ will be a perfect pick for the job. Can’t remember but wasn’t ‘Mad Dog’ the one who told a group of Afgan village elders…”I come in peace, I didn’t bring artillery, but if you f**k with me I will kill you all.”.???     I have never understood, why that position, the most important position in this country, was not held by a “boots on the ground person”, who has been there, done that, seen that…Led battles, fought battles. War is not pretty, but unfortunately War is what keeps us free. All the diplomacy in the world is not going to stop our enemies, who play by their own rules, hellbent on destroying us and what many have died to preserve FOR US. We have enjoyed a pretty long stint of not having to seriously fight for this country’s freedom (I am referring to WWII, where if we and our allies, had not won, the world would be a lot different place). I am calling out the people who were not born to feel the fear of NUCLEAR BOMB DRILLS in elementary school….Ducking under their desk, like that was going to help save us. What do you think kept that from happening? I will tell you….It was the people like this man, It was the people who died to show the world our strength and instill just enough fear in our enemies to NOT have to deal with complete annihilation. No it is not pretty, no it is not what any of us want, none of us want to send our husbands, sons, brothers into war. But freedom is not free. I am not totally “PRO” anyone who enjoys killing, but this man is absolutely needed to keep us safe. Someone has to do the dirty work, so the rest of us can live the way we do. Just think for a moment about the alternative.

    Gen. Mattis can undoubtedly do an excellent job, and give wise counsel to the president of the United States and the Congress.

    However, he will be unlikely to sugar coat, prevaricate, or weasel word the facts, his analysis, or his conclusions. In short, his approach will not be Washington standard.

    In order to be effective the president and the Congress must listen to him and be certain that the Department of Defense is given the budget to work with that is necessaryu, that acquisitions of military hardware are sensible and not the result of political pork barreling or Congressional infterference with the procurement process (except for fiscal oversight). If he warns that a country is becoming a menace to the US the political leaderts of the country must understand why this is being said, examine the statement critically, and then be prepared to take action upon the matter in a timely and effective manner.

    If the president, the Congress, and the people of the US are NOT willing or able to do this Gen. Mattis will simply walk away from the position. He didn’t need it, he didn’t ask for it, and he’s already been slapped in the face once by a politician named Obama. This kind of man will not take kindly to a repeat of tht.

    And if he walks away from the position, you as Americans should know that something went badly wrong in the political halls of power in Washington D.C.

Actually Obama pulled one of the biggest scams on this country that has ever been done. it is most hopeful that once Trump has began getting our country moving ahead once again, that his AG does everything possible to get the Obama , his administration, and the Clintons and associates put in prison where they belong. confiscate all their assets and pensions as to cover their cost of room, board, healthcare, (all costs of containment). thank God Hillary and the Dem’s lost out to Trump, and further hope it continues beating them for at least the next 100 years.

The parade of amateurs that has led DoD with virtually no experience in the military at all speaks directly to our reduced influence in the world at large.     If Mattis is as good a General as they say, I would not compare him to Patton. Patton was no doubt a brilliant combat commander, but when I learned that he ordered troops to fire on WW I veterans during the Bonus Riots of the 1930’s, I lost all respect for him and MacArthur. Their orders led to the deaths of men they had commanded in France/Belgium campaigns in 1918, men who stood up to a government which had promised a bonus to help them through the depression, and then reneged on that promise. How could any commander who cared about his men do such a thing?

He recognizes that the military is not supposed to be some glorified Meals on Wheels program for the international set, like some of the Elite Effeminites arguing against his appointment. And it looks like they’re going to use the stupid law regarding time of severance as the hook to hang up his nomination.
