Democrat to be expelled from Congress for fraud (27 counts!)

The Fake News media spends the entire broadcast day claiming that a court is about to indict and imprison President Donald Trump, a Cabinet member, or someone in his administration. But they’ve practically erased coverage of a Democrat who was scheduled to be in court today to faced charges she ripped off taxpayers for millions of dollars with the Democrats’ favorite form of fraud: phony healthcare bills.

Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, D-Fla., was scheduled to face arraignment in a Florida courtroom today for pocketing more than $5 million in taxpayers’ funds… but she didn’t show.

The court hearing is only one of her headaches: Not only does the Democrat face jail time for fleecing taxpayers, she is also poised to be expelled from Congress by her colleagues.

Cherfilus-McCormick ran Trinity Health Care Services with her family in 2021 when she received an overpayment from Federal Emergency Management Agency—the same FEMA that told workers not to help Trump voters in the state.

Cherfilus-McCormick was working with FEMA giving Floridians COVID-19 shots, but FEMA overapaid her $5,778,316.45.

A “substantial amount” of the money “went towards [Cherfilus-McCormick’s] campaign,” But she also “used those funds on luxury personal items, including jewelry from Tiffany’s, a Tesla, designer clothing, high-end hotels, and a cruise,” says a House Ethics Committee report produced last December but released last Thursday.

Reports show the congresswoman even flaunted the evidence in public photos for all her victims to see, posing with a $109,000 diamond ring purchased with their money,.

But that diamond ring doesn’t shine for her anymore. She posted a Christmas photo on her social media accounts that washed the token of guilt off her hand like Lady MacBeth.

“This portrait of Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick has been altered to remove a ring off of her left hand that she bought using $109K of stolen FEMA fund,” reads the community note on X.

X users immediately posted the unedited photo, asking what happened to her stolen bling.

Others further Photoshopped the picture to depict Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick behind bars.

But stolen funds and new rings aren’t her only infraction. The report details dozens of crimes and misdemeanors…and a fellow congressman is ready to kick her out of Congress.

The Democrat also appears to have used the healthcare company’s taxpayer-funded revenue to run for Congress three times.

Cherfilus-McCormick twice challenged the late incumbent Democrat Rep. Alcee Hastings for his seat, in 2018 and 2020, but fell short both times. She got luckier when Hastings—who had been impeached and convicted of bribery himself—died: She won the Democratic nomination by just five votes, then easily won the Democrat-friendly district’s 2021 special election.

But each time, there were hints of fraud, said the congressional report.

She used four different accounts to funnel $6.2 million to her “self-funding” campaigns…which seemed to come from taxpayers payoffs to Trinity Health Care Services.

For instance, the report notes, “Trinity wired $2,000,000.00 to [Cherfilus-McCormick’s] personal account at Financial Institution 2 on June 23, 2021, and she] transferred $2,000,000.00 to the campaign committee the next day”—a pattern that repeated over and over again.

She also didn’t report $1 million in campaign funds to the Federal Election Commission, the report states..

A full-scale “investigation has revealed substantial evidence of conduct consistent with … violations of federal laws and regulations, as well as ethical standards” required of elected officials, “as well as more extensive misconduct,” investigators concluded.

The liberal Democrat has gone all-out in protesting her innocence—protesting too much, critics say.

She pulled out of a promised interview with House investigators and invoked the Fifth Amendment, which is often employed as a legal dodge so a guilty party can avoid incriminating himself. Or herself.

She filed a not guilty plea Monday through her lawyer, so the Democrat could sidestep the optics of an in-person court appearance and dodge the cameras waiting to broadcast her walk of shame.

She’s talked tough, calling the an “unjust, baseless sham indictment.”

And she’s petitioned the House to cancel ethics hearings completely or, barring that, to postpone them. Holding them now, she says, “would risk compromising Representative Cherfilus-McCormick’s constitutional rights in the criminal proceedings.”

But she’s facing full expulsion from Congress overt the fraud charges, thanks to a motion introduced by Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla.

Naturally, the leading Democrat in the House of Representatives has come running to her defense.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said he is “a hard no” on voting to expel her.

“Frauds covering for frauds is the Democrat Party way,” said conservative commentator Paul Szypula.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) says he’s a “hard no” on voting to expel Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) who was indicted for defrauding FEMA of $5 million.

“I am told that Democrats will not support my motion” to expel their fellow liberal, “leaving it short of the required two-thirds threshold,” Steube wrote on social media Tuesday morning. “This process has been needlessly slow, but it will not change the outcome. If Democrats want to slow walk this to protect their own, Americans can judge that for themselves.”

After the Ethics Committee weighs in, “we will take up the motion and remove her from Congress once and for all.”

I am told that Democrats will not support my motion to expel @CongresswomanSC before the Ethics Committee conducts its trial on March 5, leaving it short of the required two-thirds threshold.

This process has been needlessly slow, but it will not change the outcome. If Democrats… https://t.co/3Ca1Uq0CuI

The House has scheduled a subcommittee hearing for March 5.
