If you ever wonder why residents of our nation’s cities seem to have so little regard for law and order, look no further than their elected Democratic representatives.
President-elect Donald Trump is still months away from taking office — and already, knowing they can’t be jailed for not enforcing the law, Democratic mayors of major U.S. cities are promising they will do everything they can top undermine the Trump administration’s goals.
Liberals have long had nasty relationships with federal immigration officials, and are saying they’ll do all they can to stop immigration reform under Trump, despite vows from the president-elect to withhold potentially millions of dollars in taxpayer money if they don’t cooperate.
New York’s Bill de Blasio, Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel and Seattle’s Ed Murray are among those in illegally set-up “sanctuary cities” who have openly defied Trump’s agenda.
In Providence, Rhode Island, Mayor Jorge Elorza, the son of legal Guatemalan immigrants, said he’d continue a longstanding city policy of refusing to hold people charged with civil infractions for federal immigration officials, and Newark’s Ras Baraka echoed that, calling Trump’s rhetoric on immigration “scary.”
During the campaign, Trump gave an immigration speech in which he promised to “end the sanctuary cities” and said those “that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities will not receive taxpayer dollars.” He blamed such policies for “so many needless deaths.”
In a “60 Minutes” interview broadcast Sunday, Trump said his administration’s immediate priority will be on deporting criminals and securing the border.
But significant questions — and unease — remain concerning his approach to sanctuary cities.
It generally refers to jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. That can mean, for example, they don’t notify immigration officials when an undocumented immigrant is about to be released from custody.
Some cities, like San Francisco, have long declared themselves safe havens for illegal immigrants, issuing local ID cards to allow them to access government or other taxpayer-funded services. It’s also been used to refer to cities that bar employees, including police, from inquiring about a person’s legal status.
Since states and cities can’t be required to enforce federal law — and there’s no federal law requiring police to ask about a person’s legal status — it’s likely that any Trump effort to crack down on sanctuary cities would focus on those that refuse to comply with ICE requests, said Roy Beck, chief executive of NumbersUSA, which wants to see immigration levels reduced.
It’s also unclear what money Trump might pull from the cities. The U.S. Supreme Court has held that for Congress to impose conditions on the receipt of federal money by the states, the conditions must be reasonably related to the purpose of the money. For example, the feds threatened to withhold highway funds from any state that failed to adopt a 0.08 blood-alcohol limit: Both the limit and the highway funding were related to road safety.
That said, the U.S. Justice Department’s inspector general looked at some jurisdictions with sanctuary policies earlier this year and concluded some appear to violate a federal law that says state and local governments may not prohibit or restrict officials from sharing information about a person’s immigration status with federal immigration officials. Having such policies could jeopardize millions of dollars in DOJ grant money the jurisdictions receive, the IG memo said.
According to the Center for Immigration Studies, which also calls for lower immigration levels, about 300 jurisdictions around the country have sanctuary-like policies.
“The result is people who should be deported, who have come to the attention of police because of crime, are released back into the community,” said the group’s director of policy studies, Jessica Vaughan.
Exhibit A for supporters of a crackdown on sanctuary cities is the fatal shooting of Kate Steinle in 2015, on a San Francisco pier by a man who had been previously deported and who was released by local law enforcement.
The heinous crime is something Trump supporters want to stop in the future — but Democratic mayors don’t seem to think is a problem.

Here in the Boston area cities like Somerville, Chelsea and Lawrence are sanctuary cities. Lawrence was once a proud city of many ethnicities. One of America’s first industrial cities. Up until the early 1980’s it had a low crime rate. From that time on, crime, arson and huge numbers on welfare became the norm.

If they release someone and that person does a major crime or murder that mayor should be held liable and go to jail with that person. For the record in my small community outside of Tyler, Texas on 10/28/16 a 10 year old girl, Kayla Gomez was kidnapped from the front entrance of the Church, where she was with her family in a prayer meeting. We were so devastated as our hearts felt empty! They found her the following Saturday 7 days later, not to far from where she was abducted , thrown down a well in 6 feet of water! You want to know the sad thing????? She was kidnapped, raped & murdered by an illegal immigrant, who was a cousin- in- law to the child! The man has. 3 yr old daughter himself! He got in trouble for domestic violence in 2014 & was in the process of being deported back, they were waiting on ICE!!!! Now a little girl is dead!

Mr. Trump has been pushing his plan to revitalize inner cities’ infrastructure. That’s the carrot. The stick would be the cities wouldn’t receive the assistance unless they agree to play by Trump’s rules. This would be one solution to this problem. And as I said earlier, once the inner city youth starts working these construction jobs with very decent pay they’ll learn the difference between the Democrat and Republican ideas. And hopefully they will vote Republican in thanks for their new jobs and prosperity.

“Sanctuary cities” are social engineering by means of and toward election fraud. A few days ago I saw a professor say, on TV that illegal aliens, per capita commit less crime than Citizens. That very well may be a statistic but not a legitimate one. First, I don’t believe it’s an actual statistic. Then, I believe that illegal aliens and other so-called minorites, in general are the beneficiaries of a racist system. This is why the president’s mass release of criminals on the street, that doesn’t include those involved in egregiously violent crime is a lie.
There is a concerted effort to release illegal aliens and so called minorities to pad the numbers, to keep them off of the violent crime rollls so they won’t have it on their records and so they won’t be deported. This is the real institutional racism, when it has to do with Latin American foreign nationals. Sanctuary cities are a revolving door that protects and handles illegal aliens and minorities with kit gloves, where a force sodomy charge can be dropped to a traffic violation for following too close.
The sanctuary city is an unlawful social manipulation to dilute the country of Patriotism, Americanism, Constitutionalism, Law and order by skipping past the one issue that touches illegal aliens in the Constitution, the term, “Naturalization”. Sadly, that’s correct. The once great “City of Big Shoulders” has been on a steady decline thanks to many years of Democratic leadership. President-Elect Trump will (and should) most definitely cut off social services funding for these cities that choose to shelter ILLEGAL Immigrants. Chicago is now in such bad financial shape due to:
1) Many years of concessions in horrible union contracts (specifically with public service workers pensions), 2) Driving manufacturing businesses (once a big part of the lifeblood of the city) completely out of the city and, in some cases, the state and 3) Poorly managed public projects that cost taxpayers millions of extra dollars.
We’ll see how long “Tiny Dancer” Rahm is able to hold onto his job once the funding dries up and Chicagoans realize that ANOTHER HUGE tax increase will have to follow! I say good riddance to him.

A movie about the rise and fall of Harlem drug dealer, Frank Lucas, indicated that when he was arrested, during the time of the Viet Nam war, he turned over the names of cops from New York who were on his payroll and 75% of the narcotics cops were indicted..Capone, Lucas and other criminals were eventually taken down by the FBI with a follow-up by IRS. The RICCO Act permits the federal government to seize real and personal property from convicted felons; Maybe it is time for the FBI to enter the cities that are clinging to Sanctuary City status and see what is hiding behind the curtain. Being a Mayor or any other public official does not make one exempt from the law. The President has an obligation to enforce all federal laws and to use the necessary resources to do so. The President does not have the prerogative to pick and choose which laws to enforce. If a federal law is unjust or outdated it is up to Congress repeal, change, or modify as needed. Do the citizens of these cities and towns really want criminals released back into the general population?
I was shocked to learn just about every state in the US houses sanctuary cities costing millions of dollars of American tax dollars handing out welfare money, food stamps, free housing, free medical through medicaid , free cell phones, and free computers this is a slap to all working men & women in this country. This has to stop while we working Americans have health care rise not to mention no pay raises and a lot of us losing our jobs.
This country is all for people coming in this country LEGALLY and a certain amount can become American Citizens when they follow the legal path but this country is a Nation of Laws and it is a sovereign nation that must protect its borders and keep illegals out of this country. This is not an original idea, it is what ALL nations do and it is necessary in order to have a civilized country not to be taking over by the undesirables of other counties. One of the major responsibilities of government is to protect the borders but too many politicians are more interested in being popular so they can keep their job and they put the welfare of this country on the back burner. The country doesn’t come first, it is their career that is more important. President Elect Trump campaigned on America First, Secure Borders, Rule of Law and Honorable elected officials. None of these issues were important to the Left and as a result they lost the election by a need of the people for all of these issues. Can I say “Twilight Zone?” Basically, the thing I am MOST TIRED OF is this perception by the left that it is PERFECTLY OKAY to break the law. With these Mayors denouncing Law and Order and willing to protect the illegal criminals by all means Trump should stop all Federal funding to these cities and states. CA is already bankrupt to begin with because of the democrats running that state.
Trump needs to send a long hard example as of right now he is not going after illegals that are law abiding and working, he is only planning on concentrating on those that are committing serious crimes and drug dealers and if the mayors choose to not uphold law and order they are just showing that they do not care about the safety and security and is the reason these cities are the way they are.
Democrats do not want this because by giving ID’s to illegals (as with San Fran) for the purpose of welfare and disability these people will vote democrat and dems are the popular party and this will make it very hard for any party to will other then democrats because of illegals and no voter ID.
Last I knew illegals should not be entitled to welfare or disability and should not be under the constitution and if anything should fall under a completely different set of laws which the gov’t should come out with. Our tax dollars should in no way shape or form be used to help any illegals. The illegals that did vote for Trump did so because they used the proper system to get into this country.

This does not seem like a major problem to overcome. Withhold all money from the most aggressive sanctuary city, such as San Francisco, and let the state go crazy for however long it takes for the courts to figure it out. Meanwhile, at any time the city decides to drop the sanctuary status, the gov can give the city the aid again. This illegal immigration is bad enough, but to have politicians obstructing the law and intentionally saying FU to what it right and just for everyone is not ok and deserves a massive slap in the face. We want the illegal criminals gone and those that aid those criminals are also criminals.

The act of being illegal falls into the misdemeanor laws but the act of HARBORING becomes a felony for each incident. Elected officials who do not adhere to federal law should face criminal charges. Contrast this with Obama’s unjust legal harrassment of Sheriff Joe of Maricooa County, AZ. Seems to me there are quite a few Democrats who just plain suck (and a few Repubs as well).
