It’s a frightening trend that’s popping up in towns across the United States — adults dressed in creepy clown costumes, some with weapons, terrorizing innocent citizens and children.
It’s gotten so bad, police departments across the country have had enough… and cops are starting to act.
In New Mexico, Albuquerque police on Sunday announced three people dressed as clowns were in custody.
Police spokesman Simon Drobik said officers were dispatched to a call about a “clown sighting” near a kids’ clothing store. Authorities located three juveniles donning clown masks, and Drobik says they were also in possession of what appears to be a handgun.
In Wisconsin, two parents were arrested Thursday by Menasha police for child neglect after leaving their 4-year-old child unattended for hours to chase vehicles while dressed as clowns.
And in Massachusetts, authorities say they plan to charge a father who wore a scary clown mask and followed his child’s school bus. Auburn police say some middle-school-age children were so scared that they hid under a backyard deck.
Police say the man followed the bus last Tuesday, and wrote on Facebook: “We are hopeful that others will learn from this incident and not repeat these types of behaviors.”
We can only hope they’re right.

The clowns can be also identified and called idiots. Those who dress up in these childish costumes and cause chaos deserve to be arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and fined. This should not be a city ordinance violation but a criminal charge and arrested. Police must be send a message. this kind of behavior is unacceptable period.
If they are dressed in creepy clown costumes arrest them for disturbing the peace, if nothing else. These people have no right to terrorize the public, especially children. As for the parents who left their 4 year old, so they could dress as clowns and terrorize people, they need an institution, whether jail or mental, it’s a toss up. Denounce the evil, and stop entertaining evil, as long as we entertain evil, with all these bloody, gory, killing video games, and TV shows, movies, etc., we are going to keep seeing this garbage. Turn away from the evil and stop celebrating it.

Yes, the police are doing the right thing! I would add crimes against children to the charges. These people should be jailed or fined heavily. This is no Halloween stunt. As for juveniles doing this, fine the parents. Our children already have too many things scaring them, including shootings on school grounds. There is no tolerance for deliberate scaring of children.
I don’t understand where this crap started from. I saw one of these people wearing a hideous clown mask heading out of town where I live in Virginia, a couple weeks ago. There have been several sightings in my state. I kind of ignored it, but maybe I should have chased the car down and reported the tag number. Why these people are thinking this is funny or have another motive behind it is unclear. With all of these people using the masks to scare others or cause harm to the public, can get some of these people hurt themselves. I caution any person that tries this, of the harm they may cause for themselves.
People who dress as clowns are risking their lives. At some point someone packing a weapon is going to see one of these clowns and take matters into their own hands.
Some states have laws against adults wearing masks. It would be a good time for people to take off their costumes before someone gets hurt.
