It looks like the rumors of GOP nominee Donald Trump’s demise were greatly exaggerated — and very premature.
Just weeks after the mainstream media declared Trump’s campaign dead, three national polls show he has now overtaken challenger Hillary Clinton.
And after a disastrous few weeks, Clinton’s campaign is crashing and burning so quickly, it may make the Hindenburg its new mascot.
Even the most recent poll from CNN — often dubbed the Clinton News Network for its apparent liberal bias — shows Trump with a 2-point lead over Clinton among likely voters (45 percent to 43 percent).
And this isn’t some anomaly, either.
The last LA Times poll showed Trump with a 3-point lead over Clinton, and the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Trump has a one-point lead.
Reuters/Ipsos in past weeks had shown Clinton with a near double-digit lead over Trump.
Clinton surrogates were quick to point to her supposed lead in battleground states like Pennsylvania and Ohio. But state polls are rarely as up-to-date as national polls, and tend to be less reliable.
And only four times in U.S. history has a presidential candidate won the election after losing the popular vote. It’s only happened once (in 2000) in the past 128 years.
Trump’s turnaround in the polls occurs as Clinton has been caught in a series of campaign gaffes. Her mishandling of classified emails continues to loom large over the election, and she’s been criticized for focusing on fundraisers while Trump has been aggressively pursuing voter outreach and international diplomacy efforts.
With 60 days to go until the election, Trump seems to have done what many considered impossible weeks ago — he’s seized the momentum.

Every person I have ever talked to has said they wished our government was run like a business, well here’s their chance to make it happen. If they don’t take the opportunity now they might never have another chance. Common sense in the White House would be a blessing for a change, put America first would be the best improvement that could be done.
If our country were run like a U.S. business: the President would make $10 billion in salary and appreciated stock options, his board would be composed of his golfing buddies and they’d be paid $50 thousand per meeting they attended, and staff members would be fired every quarter to keep costs down and to make revenue ‘targets’. When targets slipped, he would file for bankruptcy (sound familiar) and start over.

Polls are not overly reliable. But as they are typically skewed in favor of the democrats. This upsurge of Trump in the polls does look promising.
