Sen. Bernie Sanders’ “Medicare for all” plan would increase government health care spending by $32.6 trillion over 10 years, according to a study by a university-based libertarian policy center.
Yup, you read that right. That’s trillion — with a “T.”
The latest bogus plan from the Vermont independent would require historic tax increases as the government replaces what employers and consumers now pay for health care, and would be completely unfair to those who invested in Medicare for the last 40 years.
According to a new study by a university-based libertarian policy center, “Enacting something like ‘Medicare for all’ would be a transformative change in the size of the federal government.” The study’s author Charles Blahous was a senior economic adviser to former President George W. Bush and a public trustee of Social Security and Medicare during the Obama administration.
“If every major country on earth can guarantee health care to all, and achieve better health outcomes, while spending substantially less per capita than we do, it is absurd for anyone to suggest that the United States cannot do the same,” Sanders said in a statement. “This grossly misleading and biased report is the Koch brothers response to the growing support in our country for a ‘Medicare for all’ program.”
Sanders’ plan is completely unfair and would actually hurt more Americans, than help them.
Millions of Americans have contributed their hard-earned money in Medicare for over 40 years, other Americans have not contributed a dime, so why should they reap the benefits?
According to The Hill, Medicare is not sustainable. “The Congressional Research Service reports the Medicare Trust Fund will be insolvent in less than 10 years. When that happens, Medicare will be broke and seniors will not get the care they need.”
It does not make sense to continue Medicare if it will be of no-care to anyone.
As The Hill points out, America already has a system that supplies free health insurance to all at no charge — and it’s called Medicaid.
But oh wait, Medicaid has been a complete failure.
This new system being promoted by Sanders and his new socialist ally Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is estimated to increase in federal spending over 10 years that ranges from $24.7 trillion to $34.7 trillion.
The answer to health insurance is to help Americans, not create an economic crisis.
We need to return to our roots and only provide Medicare to the individuals that qualify, and are in need of it.
