“Bang girls” scandal shakes top conservative organization

Some Christian conservatives across the week began the week of Christmas downright furious.

Why?

Conservative activist Charlie Kirk — founder of the organization Turning Point USA — hosted a raunchy youth event in West Palm Beach, Florida over the weekend.

Critics are blasting the conservative event Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit for its lack of… well… conservatism.

Video emerged from the event, which showed footage of scandally clad women on a stage shooting dollar bills into the crowd with a money cannon. The girls — called “Bang girls” — were part of Bang energy drinks promotion.

Backlash from conservatives across Twitter came fast and furious.

Liberty Outlet, a self-described libertarian media platform, slammed the event for participating in antics while more serious matters are taking place in the political realm.

“Instead of fighting to secure President Trump’s 2nd term,” it wrote. “Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA are using their donations to hire strippers to shoot money in the air. A complete slap in the face to the President and all his supporters.”

“This is just not what I knew,” @conservestud wrote. “What a shame.”

“Repeat after me,” wrote @gribbo586. “TPUSA and organizations like them are scam artists interested only in money and fame.”

The event has seen a harsh rejection amid Kirk’s rise to conservatism stardom in the past several years. This past August, Kirk was invited to speak as one of the keynote speakers at the Republican National Convention, in what likely was his biggest moments in the national spotlight to date.

But critics of his and the Turning Point organization have noted that they’ve been no strangers to controversy amid a push to recruit younger college students into the conservative base.

So we want to hear from you.

Did they go too far?
