It comes five years and several thousand lives too late, but a top Democrat thought to be “untouchable” is finally facing justice, thanks to House Republicans.
The Fake News media have spent the last several years floating a “COVID amnesty” for people who “innocently” made monstrous decisions, which are still playing out across the American landscape: missed funerals, ruined health, and a spike in suicides.
One of the worst aspects came when Democratic governors issued orders allowing COVID-infected patients to be placed into nursing homes without special quarantine.
Undoubtedly, the Left overemphasized the novel coronavirus’ lethality, but the fact that COVID-19 killed the elderly became clear-as-day from the earliest outbreak.
One of those Democrats was then-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
He had gotten large donations from the hospital industry, which was being overrun by COVID patients in their sunset years. Hospitals wanted to clear up beds for younger, better-insured, more profitable patients, critics said.
So, Andrew Cuomo gave his blessing to place them back into nursing homes, the well and the ill side-by-side and, essentially, let nature take its course.
It did. COVID ravaged nursing homes, killing thousands—sometimes in such a way their families were denied a funeral.
Even as he closed hospitals, schools, and churches and synagogues, Cuomo gave himself and 6,700 football fanatics a special exemption from his own COVID orders so they could watch his favorite NFL team, the Buffalo Bills, go to the playoffs.
It’s a matter of priorities.
House Republicans referred Cuomo to the Justice Department before—but it was President Joe Biden’s Justice Department, which refused to prosecute him for his actions—and Cuomo thought that was the end of the story.
That was welcome news, since he had enough legal troubles over the sexual harassment accusations that would eventually drive him out of office.
But now, there’s a new sheriff in town—and this Republican Justice Department wants justice.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., referred Andrew Cuomo to the DOJ for “lying to Congress” over the number of deaths…something his staffers later admitted.
Cuomo “knowingly and willfully made false statements to Congress,” Comer wrote Attorney General Pam Bondi in a letter this month.
“Andrew Cuomo is a man with a history of corruption and deceit, now caught red-handed lying to Congress during the Select Subcommittee’s investigation into the COVID-19 nursing home tragedy in New York,” said Comer. “This wasn’t a slip-up—it was a calculated cover-up by a man seeking to shield himself from responsibility for the devastating loss of life in New York’s nursing homes”
The idea of Andrew Cuomo—who recently threw his hat in the ring to become the Democratic candidate for mayor of New York City—facing the music sounds great in the ears of his victims’ family members.
“Cuomo is a liar. He’s a narcissist. He’s a bully. And he’s a murderer,” said Donna Johnson, who lost both her parents to Cuomo’s nursing home edict.
“We will never forget what he did. And we will never elect Andrew Cuomo as our Mayor,” responded Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels and a sometimes-candidate for New York City office, too.
Today, Andrew Cuomo has been referred to the Attorney General for prosecution over his deadly executive order that forced COVID-positive patients into nursing homes—resulting in the deaths of more than 15,000 seniors.

Even before the referral, entertainers said there was no way Andrew Cuomo could have overcome his past to become the next mayor of the Big Apple.
Comedian Bill Maher, the host of HBO’s Real Time, told Andrew Cuomo’s brother, Chris, to his face, “I don’t think he’s going to get past the nursing home thing.”
All it takes is “one boner decision to “make people go, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t trust that guy’s judgment.’ Or they don’t.”
But the former governor has one saving grace: “Luckily for him, he’s got a weak field” of fellow Democratic hopefuls—hopefuls so hopeless they could lose to a man whose hapless decisions killed thousands.

Now, Cuomo could be heading to the slammer—and he might have company.
As The Horn reported, AG Bondi has also opened an investigation into New York Attorney General Letitia James for mortgage fraud.
Ironically, that’s basically the same crime she accused President Donald Trump of committing.
The Trump Justice Department is on a roll—and it’s crushing New York Democrats.
Isn’t it about time someone paid for their massive flouting of the law?
