Adorable lion cub born at California zoo (pics)

A zoo in central California is showing off a new lion cub and asking visitors to choose his name.

The Fresno Bee reports that reporters got a glimpse of the 5-week-old cub Thursday at Fresno Chaffee Zoo as he rolled in his enclosure and napped on his mom, Kiki.

Kiki gave birth to three cubs on Oct. 11, but only the unnamed cub survived.

Voting on his name will run through Nov. 27, and the little lion will likely get his public viewing a month or so later.

Zoo staff has selected six Swahili names to choose from: Enzi (powerful), Kijani (warrior), Asani (rebellious), Erevu (clever), Mansa (king) and Bwani (gentleman).

Visitors can buy a token and place it in a box corresponding to the name they like best.

IS THIS PART OF THE SANCTUARY CITY MOVEMENT, THAT HAS MADE FRISCO THE TALK OF THE COUNTRY, WHERE WE TAKE CARE OF 5 TIME CONVICTED FELONS, JUST LIKE THE LITTLE LION CUB. SF GOVMT IS SO SICK AND EVIL!

Bwani (gentleman) or what ever the name would be for “Lover Boy”. He reminds me of my 3/4 Staffordshire 1/4 Black Lab pup (18 m.o.). who is partially blind. “Fat Boy’, who is no longer the fat overfed (Momma’s milk) little boy he used to be… but is still quite the handsome, adventurous little lover boy.

FRESNO! FRESNO! Can’t you read? About 90 miles north of Bakersfield, CA. Part of the Central Valley of CA. How about cracking a book and doing some learning?

The cub is a cute as can be, and I resent a comment trying to take away from that. I just wonder why a zoo born cub would not survive and how this compares to survival rates in the wild.
