Adios! Dem ‘Sanctuary City’ tows buses of illegals out of town

The year 2023 has featured “sanctuary cities” displaying just how hypocritical they can be, but the latest actions by Democrats in one of America’s deepest-blue cities may have topped everything.

Chicago passed an ordinance last week allowing the city to seize, tow, and impound any bus bringing illegal aliens into the city against the city’s wishes.

Chicago’s finest can even fine bus drivers $30,000 apiece!

The move is Chicago’s latest efforts to push back against Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s ingenious plan to make Democrat-led sanctuary cities live up to their own standards—and foot the bill for attracting a record-breaking number of illegals to cross the southern border since Joe Biden took office.

Abbott’s “Operation Lone Star” had bused more than 50,000 illegals to sanctuary cities by October.

Chicagoans’ mouths dropped as Texas-based buses kept driving up—seven buses here, 12 busloads there, 14 another time—more than 460 so far.

All in all, a total of 24,400 illegals have blown into the Windy City since Gov. Abbott started the caravans last August, according to the Chicago Tribune.

So, the new ordinance limits Texas to sending two buses an hour, during business hours, Monday through Friday—and the buses have to get permission from the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications just to show up.

To prove the city means business, officials already impounded their first bus the same day the ordinance passed.

The buses also have strict orders only to drop people off at the city’s designated stop…not in the city’s wealthy suburbs.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson complained—apparently after hearing from his wealthy donors—that “after being bussed thousands of miles, rogue bus operators are dropping new arrivals in Cicero, Rosemont, Schiller Park, and places other than our designated landing zone.”

The radical left-wing mayor even implied Gov. Abbott and other conservatives were possessed by the devil for believing Chicago wasn’t lying about its sanctuary city status.

“It’s disrespectful it’s mean-spirited. It’s an unclean spirit,” Mayor Johnson thundered.

But Jesus called Satan “the father of life”—and that description seems to match Chicago Democrats more than Greg Abbott.

The definition of the word “sanctuary” is “a place that provides shelter or protection.”

Not only isn’t Chicago going to give illegal immigrants shelter, it won’t even give them a parking space.

America’s Second City just ranked number one in irony.

With the new statute in mind, “the only logical thing to do next is build shelters on impound lot,” quipped an Illinois conservative.

To make it more ironic yet, the new policy may not work out because of the city’s Defund the Police agenda.

“Another brilliant idea brought to you by the incompetent mayor who doesn’t have a clue. So who’s going to enforce the impoundment? Overworked ⁦Chicago Police officers?” asked Donald Muhammad, a security expert.

A Chicago-based attorney named Beverly Pekala called it a “continuing sign of the times. Suburbs including Rosemont and Cicero follow Chicago‘s lead and will fine, impound buses that drop off border crossers. And Rosemont says cops will arrest bus drivers.”

Rosemont enacted its ordinance on Monday, less than a week after half-a-dozen buses, dropped off their cargo of 40 to 50 illegals each.

The suburb will fine drivers $750 each time they make an “unscheduled stop” in the city.

You can bet the city won’t be scheduling any illegal alien shipments.

The buses now have to have a plan to care for each and every illegal they drop off…as if it were the driver’s responsibility.

The mayor of Rosemont, Brad Stephens (who’s a Republican), “We’re not going to let them just drop people off and drive away,” Mayor said Monday. “It’s inhumane dropping them off on a concrete sidewalk on a day like today.”

That’s the city’s second attempt to get off the hook; in November, Rosemont started fining hotels $1,000 for each illegal immigrant who stayed there a month or longer.

The city needs the funds; Chicago is spending $40 million a month to take care of the illegal population, 9th Ward Alderman Anthony Beale told the Chicago City Council last month.

Chicago’s poor residents are tired of the crime, filth, and social disintegration brought to their communities by the enormous number of illegals turning up in their neighborhoods, and threatening their children and their way of life.

“Send them to your house!” angry Chicagoans have told city officials.

They’re not the only ones getting upset; many of the illegal aliens have begun to return to their countries of origin…even dictatorial Venezuela.

“At least I have my mother back home,” said Michael Castejon. “The American Dream doesn’t exist any more. There’s nothing here for us.”

At least that’s one thing illegal aliens have in common with the U.S. citizens hosting them: The American Dream is disappearing for Americans, too.

Left-wing policies are destroying cities from Chicago to Caracas. It’s time to make our socialist leaders pay, or leave them alone in the ruins of the once-beautiful cities they’ve decimated.
