ABC News suspends reporter after undercover video leak

ABC News senior correspondent David Wright was suspended late Tuesday night after being caught by investigative journalists admitting to his bias against President Donald Trump.

Wright, seen drinking in the video, is also shown admitting that he’s a hard-left socialist. In addition, he details to undercover reporters how broadcast news organizations like ABC News selectively cover stories to reflect poorly on the president because of their Democratic leanings.

Wright, who has reported for ABC News’ World News Tonight, Good Morning America, and Nightline, was swiftly suspended by the network and has been barred from covering political news after news of the footage leaked.

“Any action that damages our reputation for fairness and impartiality or gives the appearance of compromising it harms ABC News and the individuals involved,” an ABC News spokesman told The Washington Examiner in a statement. “David Wright has been suspended, and to avoid any possible appearance of bias, he will be reassigned away from political coverage when he returns.”

The hidden camera footage was captured by conservative activists working with James O’Keefe’s “Project Veritas.”

In the video, which can be seen below, Wright and ABC producer Andy Fies discuss how ABC News and other broadcast networks pervert their coverage of elections.

The network ignores the “small sh*t” that matters to voters because the “commercial imperative” they’re shown saying.

In fact, ABC News fails to “give [Trump] credit for what things he does do” and that the “truth suffers” because reporters are unable to understand what motivates Trump voters.

“I feel terrible about it, and I feel that the truth suffers,” Wright says. “The voters are poorly informed … [and] our bosses don’t see an upside in doing the job we’re supposed to do.”

“Are you a Democratic Socialist?” one of the reporters is seen heard asking Wright at another point in the video.

“Oh yeah,” he responds. “More than that — I would consider myself a socialist. Like, I think there should be national health insurance. I’m totally fine with reigning in corporations. I think there are too many billionaires. And, I think there’s a wealth gap — and that’s a problem.”

The footage is the second in a series of ABC News leaks from O’Keefe’s “Project Veritas.”

The conservative organization made news in November when it released footage of ABC News’ Amy Robach talking about the network bosses “spiking” a story on billionaire pedophile Jeffery Epstein.

Robach is seen in the footage saying that, among other accusations, she had linked Epstein’s criminal activity to former President Bill Clinton.

That interview has still not been aired by the network.
