The legal team headed up by lawyers Sidney Powell and Lin Wood has been fighting to overturn the current 2020 election results — but Sen. Ted Cruz, R-T.X., thinks they’re “clowns.”
And Cruz is not alone.
Across the country, establishment Republicans rushed to denounce the pair after the two claimed they have evidence of widespread voter fraud– but said Wednesday that their followers wouldn’t participate in the upcoming Georgia senate runoff unless mainstream Republicans helped their lawsuits.
Trump-aligned Breitbart attacked Wood and Powell in a series of scathing articles on Wednesday, claiming that Wood was a “secret Democrat” and “MAGA poser” trying to secretly undermine Republicans.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich called them “totally destructive.”
Even Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. expressed frustration with the Trump legal team, saying their “videos aren’t proof” and demanding they put evidence into the courtroom during an interview on Fox News.
The explosive reaction from the establishment came after a press conference where the two pro-Trump lawyers told their followers not to vote in the upcoming Senate runoff unless the Georgia GOP completely remakes the current election process.
“I would encourage all Georgians to make it known that you will not vote at all until your vote is secure — and I mean that regardless of party,” Powell said in the controversial press conference.
Since then, Wood has doubled-down and refused to apologize. “Voting in a known fraudulent election is the equivalent of not voting at all if the opponent has rigged the election,” he said on social media Thursday. “The fix is in. Face it.”
“I want ALL registered voters in GA to vote,” he also said.”But I want ALL votes to be cast in a lawful & honest election. I make no apology to those offended by those simple truths.”
Cruz fired back, calling him a “clown” and a secret Democrat that wants Chuck Schumer as the Majority leader of the Senate.
