Most polls show former Vice President Joe Biden as the frontrunner for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, but he has a major problem: An embarrassing video from decades ago has him trashing one of his party’s most popular policies.
In fact, he calls it a “boneheaded idea”—and the footage could stall his third presidential run before it even starts.
First, the Democrats wanted to lower the voting age to 16. Then they wanted to let illegal immigrants and convicted felons vote. And they wanted to abolish the Electoral College.
Now they want to pack the U.S. Supreme Court—and Biden is on camera telling these voters that they’re stupid.
Biden bashed the court-packing idea back in 1983 on the floor of the U.S. Senate, saying Franklin D. Roosevelt’s plot to add six new justices to the Supreme Court in 1937 was “a boneheaded idea.”
“It was a terrible, terrible mistake,” he went on, because it “put in question, for an entire decade, the independence of” the Supreme Court.
The new proposal caught fire during the liberals’ meltdown over the Brett Kavanaugh hearings. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., told her fellow Democrats the best way to keep from losing a 5-4 court is to “pack the Supreme Court of the United States of America.”
Now the 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls have lined up behind the idea.
Beto O’Rourke floated a plan to increase the number of justices from nine to 15.
O’Rourke told a group of his followers in Iowa he’d back a plan where there are “five justices selected by Democrats, five justices selected by Republicans, and those 10 then pick five more justices.”
South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg shamelessly told “Fox News Sunday” that packing the court would be a great way “to depoliticize the Supreme Court.”
And the endorsements have just kept pouring in.
Kamala Harris said, when it comes to making America a socialist country, “everything is on the table.”
Elizabeth Warren said she would pack the court “if the Republicans are going to try to block us on key pieces” like the Green New Deal.
Cory Booker has backed the idea, and even Kirsten Gillibrand said she finds the idea “interesting.”
The Left has used the Supreme Court for decades to force parts of their agenda on the court that could never pass a vote—like aborting babies just a few minutes before birth.
But with Trump getting two appointments, and leftwing icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg elderly and in bad health, the leftists aren’t taking any chances.
The court has had nine justices since 1869. Now they’re ready to overturn 150 years of settled history to get their way—and the Fake News media got on board the minute the Democrats announced the plan.
“Court Packing is Not that Extreme,” according to Slate.
New York Magazine tells us, “Democrats Don’t Want to ‘Pack the Supreme Court’ — They Want to Reform It.”
The New Republic tells Democrats to “Prepare to Pack the Supreme Court.”
And The Washington Post even said, “Democrats Must Consider Court Packing When They Regain Power. It’s the Only Way to Save Democracy.”
These are the same liberals said Donald Trump shredded the Constitution by firing James Comey, a crooked FBI Director whose own team wanted him gone.
Trump has responded to the latest liberal attempt to rig the system by saying they’re just sore losers.
“When they lose, they try to change the rules,” a spokesperson for Trump’s re-election campaign told The Daily Caller. “This is just what the Democrats always do.”
“They want to change our institutions to fit their own political desires,” the campaign said.
The court packing option is a grave danger to the U.S.; it’s a bloodless coup.
“There are at least two ways of getting rid of judges,” a Harvard Law professor warned America back in 1937. “One is to take them out and shoot them, as they are reported to do in at least one other country.”
“The other way is more genteel, but no less effective. They are kept on the public payroll but their votes are canceled,” he said.
Joe Biden was against these Stalinist, strongman tactics back in the 1980s. But the Democrats have run so far to the left that even Biden looks too conservative to them.
Can he get the nomination if opposes even their most radical and blatantly unconstitutional policies?
Biden’s trying to hush up this video so that he’ll never have to find out.
