It’s no secret that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants the economy to slow down — because a recent poll shocker has panicked Democratic leadership.
During an economic conference this month, Pelosi told the gathered economists that, “February’s abysmal jobs numbers are a stark warning from an economy being hollowed out by the GOP’s devastating special interest agenda.”
As usual, what Pelosi said and what is reality are far different. Overall unemployment numbers from February are just 0.1 percent above a 50-year low. The economy is booming, despite Pelosi’s dire warnings.
So why is Pelosi rooting against Americans getting work? Democrats know it’s bad for their message.
Heading into the 2020 presidential election, Pelosi and her political allies know that a strong economy helps the Republicans. A weak economy, combined with entitlement programs and “free stuff” promises, helps Democrats win over voters.
Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, the U.S. economy has never been stronger.
It’s only getting better — and polls show that American voters are flocking to thank Trump for making America great again.
According to a stunning new poll from SSRS, 71 percent of Americans say the economy is doing great — and the majority of Americans, 51 percent, say Trump is the one they’re thanking for the good fortune.
In fact, the poll stunner left CNN’s Editor-at-large Chris Cillizza calling the results, “Donald Trump’s 2020 secret sauce.”
“Overall, 71% say the nation’s economy is in good shape, the highest share to say so since February 2001, and the best rating during Trump’s presidency by two points,” CNN reported. “A majority give the President positive reviews for his handling of the nation’s economy (51% approve), and his overall approval rating has ticked up to 42% in the new poll. The 51% who say they disapprove of the President’s job performance overall represent the lowest share to do so in CNN polling since the start of his presidency.”
Meanwhile, the approval rating for Pelosi and her Democratic allies in Congress continues to scrape the bottom of the barrel.
Gallup reported Tuesday that the overall approval rating of Congress is just 26 percent — and just 18 percent among Republican voters.
Should the economy continue to improve heading towards the 2020 presidential election, polls like these should have Pelosi and her political allies very, very worried.
