Radical atheists – “Don’t pray for dead cops”

November 23, 2015 By: Stephen Dietrich

The radical anti-religion group Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) sent a threatening letter to Minnesota police officers demanding they stop planning a prayer vigil for an officer killed in the line of duty.

The controversy began when the Sheriff’s Office in Itasca County, Minnesota sent a letter from Chaplain Dale H. Kaiser, calling fellow police officers to attend a 24-hour prayer vigil at the Itasca Courthouse Law Enforcement Memorial .

The vigil was planned in part to honor the memory of Aitkin County Sheriff’s Deputy Steven Sandberg, who was fatally shot in the line of duty last month, and to ask for God safety for police officers around the country.

Kaiser asked members of the public to come “even if someone can only spare 5 minutes”

“The only answer our country has is God,” Kaiser said in his original letter. “It is up to us, his chosen, to stand up and pray for God to intervene, heal our country, and protect all our public safety officers.”

When word got back to the FFRF atheists, the group sent a letter for Kaiser demanding the vigil be called off, and claiming the office’s actions were unconstitutional.

A lawyer from the FFRF, Patrick Elliot, publicly demanded that the Sheriff’s Office “withdraw it’s support from the prayer event” and that it avoid “any official involvement in the event itself.”

Elliot went on to say that the “all-day prayer and religious program is well beyond the bounds of what government officials may facilitate,” and demanded that the Sheriff’s Office fire Kaiser.

They claim to care about the Constitution. In reality they only want to silence others and violate others rights to express religious freedoms. They vilify those who oppose them. They claim that their atheism is their own personal right. Yet they try to force their ways upon others.

Agree obama is the enemy within and a terrorist along with the gueers and atheist America is being attacked by all the perverts, atheists and her own government and what makes it worse is no one will even try and arrest the evil in the White House, and they can by law instead we have the courts not obeying our laws or our Constitution none of Washington are doing their jobs,or protect our Country as they took a oath to do, anyone in this Country that try to force special treatment or special laws and take away our rights in any form, speech, guns, religion, are terrorists and should be delt with as needed, and no adding perverted and idiot things to our rights, like gueers and much more garbage they keep trying to pass, forcing religious people to go against their beliefs very wrong and we need to stand up and say so.

What a bunch of jerks! It’s bad enough we lost another officer and then to treat his family, friends and colleagues this way is absolutely abhorrent!
If they don’t believe in God, that’s up to them, but what gives them the right to ruin it for those. That do? If I was not 1,500 miles away, I would gladly show my respects and pray!
If this group didn’t like it, they could sue me!
God bless this family and all those that have lost a hero and a friend.
Who knows, maybe this bunch of idiots will sue me for my response.

  4. Chris says

    November 23, 2015 at 11:06 am

It’s time to put an end to the corruption by atheists and their anti-American minions on the court who are hellbent on destroying the biblical foundations of the United States. Atheists managed to use corrupt justices on the Warren Court to remove the Bible from public education in 1963 by a misapplication of the phrase “wall of separation between church and state,” a phrase that was used by Thomas Jefferson in a letter to the Baptists of Danbury, Connecticut to inform them that the Constitution would never allow the government to support one denomination of Christianity over another as occurred in Great Britain with the Church of England. Corrupt judges allowed that phrase, misapplied as it was by a dishonest attorney, to become a precedent in the law that completely denies the meaning of the First Amendment of the Constitution. The founders of the United States understood very well that the Bible is the cornerstone of western civilization, the history of which cannot be understood without a thorough knowledge of the Bible. A person who has not read the Bible cannot be considered a thoroughly educated westerner, and atheists want to keep people enshrouded in darkness. Most of the problems this nation is facing began with the removal of the Bible from public education, and school prayer soon after.

    • James Jones says

      November 23, 2015 at 10:06 pm

Just a thought here but, what do you think would happen if a game producer came out with a biblical game that taught players the messages of the Bible? I bet it would be easier to bring younger generations back to God simply because they are informed and know what they are talking about.

Personally, I have no problem with atheist as long as they keep it personal, out of politics, science and the educational system. I also object that atheist try to make the lives of Christians miserable because they reject what we believe. The Bible is our guidebook and we are to live according to God’s precepts. Atheists are actually doing the same thing to Christians that they don’t want done to them. What hypocrites.

Why thank the imaginary being for not doing his/her job in the first place?

      • Mary Allen says

        November 23, 2015 at 1:22 pm

Apparently, you think God should protect you too? BTW, He does because He is calling you to salvation and does not want you to parish at your death. The reason for people rejecting the way of salvation is because they simply don’t want interference in their lives. What a terrible trade out that is. A few years of earthly pleasure of doing it your own way and rejecting the work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross and take the 70 or 80 years of your life and compare it to eternity. The details of life are more important than an eternal future. What kind of fool is that? It is simply about them, nothing else. Romans 1:18-20 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

      • sam says

        November 23, 2015 at 1:24 pm

Hal, God is not a dictator that forces His will on anyone. He has to be invited into any situation by his beloved people through prayer. Otherwise , His natural laws continue. God’s miraculous intervention only comes to those He has been invited by through their prayers or someone who cares enough to pray for that situation or individual.
God loves us enough to respect our choices and not force His goodness upon anyone. Satan on the other hand is a liar, deceiver and does anything to bring destruction upon mankind. Our only defense is praying to a loving God to prevent satan’s evil plans to destroy us. If you do not think God weeps for our poor choices and the pain they cause, I truly am sorry for your deceived condition.

      • James Jones says

        November 23, 2015 at 10:17 pm

Hal, I feel sorry for you sir. God never said he would keep you from ever being hurt or killed. Christians have always been persecuted and are likely to always be. That’s okay with me. Our reward for belief is a peaceful life and an eternity of glory. If that doesn’t happen and there is nothing after death? So What? I can be an atheist, and declare that I will do whatever makes me happy and raise hell, murder people, steal your possessions or whatever else I feel like doing. Or I can follow God’s teachings and treat you as someone who matters. Maybe not to me, but you matter to God and that’s good enough for me. You are free to do as you wish but please stop trying to tell believers that we are wrong. You have your beliefs or lack of, and we have ours. Acceptance and love of others is one of Gods greatest teachings. We don’t put ourselves above others as a rule but y’all do whatever you want. May God bless you and your non believing Family and Friends.

This is a Christian nation, if they feel so threatened by God, or our religious freedom, then move to a place you can escape religion together, make it a God Free Zone, then we can have nothing to do with them, but they want all of us to transform to their way of thinking and nothing less will do, and this Stupid Government and its panty waist lib drones go along so they don’t loose their precious positions in office and the Cush job and millions in perks FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS

People who do not believe will not attend the prayer vigil. That is their right as well as yours. 23. David says

    November 23, 2015 at 7:37 pm

These issues are just ” voter dividers” and trivial at best as no one’s religion is being threatened by the FFRF action. The “prayer vigil” sounds like an exclusivity clause and a violation of Church and State, yet a day of “Remembrance” has no particular religious affiliation and invites all religions and atheists too, some whom may also want to pay respect to the fallen officer, or a fellow officer! If we want to be good Americans, who believe in Christ, we must also respect other religions or beliefs, but we don’t have to agree on “matters of faith”. There are good reasons for the “Separation of Church and State”, thought out by the brightest and wisest minds, at the founding of this still Great Nation, and we should wrestle with the Constitution and Amendments, not each other!

    • Jeffrey says

      November 24, 2015 at 8:12 pm

David, look it up. There is no “Separation of Church and State” in the Constitution. There is a free exercise clause in the First Amendment, i.e., if the government prevents a prayer vigil, it is in violation of the Constitution.

By the way, the Constitution never says that a person loses his right to the free exercise of his religion when he’s employed by the government, or even when he’s acting in an official capacity.

If you really think “no one’s religion is being threatened by the FFRF action,” I’ve got a bridge I can sell you.

A multitude of ills have been done in the name of some religion. That is likely where the atheist’s wind comes from. Valid Christianity frankly, is one of the few that can overcome even the coldest of such religious freezers. Rome tried to do it by demanding that their Emperor be recognized as God. One might note here, that in the Aramaic tongue the word God roots from the word Power. Go ahead and ~freeze~, if your told to. The godly caring nature cannot be silenced…

  25. FELICIA says

The dead do not need any prayers. Prayers are for the living and so everyone should direct their prayers for all the friends, family and loved ones of the deceased police officers. The atheists do not believe in prayer for anyone.

  27. Anymouse says

    November 24, 2015 at 7:36 am

Really disappointed in your sensationalist — and inaccurate — headline!

FFRF is NOT telling people not to pray — for cops or anyone else. What they are saying is not to make a religious activity — prayer — an official action of a public, tax-funded organization. Do you people at Horn really not grasp that it would be possible to hold a commemoration gathering for fellow officers without making it an explicitly religious event?!? At a non-religious event it would still be possible for a group or groups of willing officers to gather — away from the main stage or mic or whatever — for the purpose of prayer or meditation. FFRF’s whole point here is to not use a governmental organization or event as a means of imposing religious ideas and rituals on those who don’t share them.

Folks, don’t you think there is enough extremism, intolerance, and strife in the world today without you fanning the flames with deliberately provocative and misleading headlines? I really hope to see better from you in the future.

  28. Anthony says

Oh God free us from the likes of the FFRF and all other radical groups that attack God and Christian beliefs and the free exercise thereof, in this once great country. We are being persecuted for our beliefs by radical, radical fools who have nothing better to do than cause trouble.
This country was founded based on Christian principles which include freedom of religion and the right of non-believers to do their own thing in peace. However, they who are a minority do not wish Christians to have the same rights. Therefore, I say to you, go back into the holes from which you came, you brood of vipers.

It sounds like these people are calling all the people whom have had a near death experience and say they met Jesus a bunch of liers. That to me sounds like another law suit against them for doing so in public. I know I don’t like to be called on my character about my honesty. Well, God knows who they are and I for one would like to hear what they have to say to gain entry past Saint Peter. I wonder how many of them celebrate Christmas?

  33. Jeffrey says

    November 24, 2015 at 8:39 pm

This is all about the free exercise clause in the First Amendment, which means, if the government prevents a prayer vigil, it is in violation of the Constitution.

The establishment clause does not apply because no law has been made to establish the prayer vigil and no preferences will be given to the attendees. On the contrary, the prayer vigil was set up and promoted by individuals, is not part of any law or public policy, and is completely voluntary. No one is forced or coerced to attend and everyone is free to set up whatever kind of meeting he chooses to honor or dishonor those cops.

By the way, the Constitution never says that a person loses his right to the free exercise of his religion when he’s employed by the government, not even when he’s acting in an official capacity.
