House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has said a lot of nasty things during her tenure as a congresswoman.
Labeling law enforcement officers working for Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) as cowards may be her worst moment yet. On Tuesday, acting ICE Director Thomas Homan gave a powerful reply.
Following the Justice Department’s lawsuit against California’s illegal sanctuary practices, Pelosi issued a statement that called immigration laws “cowardly attacks” that terrorize innocent people.
“The people of California will not be bowed by the Trump administration’s brazen aggression and intimidation tactics. Californians will continue to proudly keep our doors open to the immigrants who make America more American. We will fight this sham lawsuit and will fight all cowardly attacks on our immigrant communities,” Pelosi’s statement read.
In other words, Pelosi thinks the law enforcement officers that enforce immigration law are cowards and bullies.
“So how dare you call them cowardly,” Homan replied in an appearance on Fox Business Channel show, “Varney and Co.”
The illegal immigrants arrested by ICE raids are those targeting and terrorizing our communities, Homan pointed out. These aren’t legal immigrants trying to capture the American dream. These were criminals.
Every illegal immigrant put in handcuffs in recent crackdowns in California had been previously charged with serious criminal offenses like murder or assault.
“ICE went in there and removed these people from the community. So that’s far from terrorizing. We’re protecting people, we’re protecting the American public,” he said.
The debate over illegal immigration and safety is especially significant today. As thousands of high school students participate in a nationwide walk-out to demand better school safety, it’s critical we also consider other aspects of community safety.
That includes the tolerance of criminal illegal immigrants. Data has shown that illegal immigrants commit more crime — and the crime they commit tends to be more violent — than native-born Americans of all demographics.
Consider the story of Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cuevas, two American high school students brutally murdered by illegal immigrants from the violent MS-13 street gang in 2016.
Before she was beaten to death in the streets by bat-wielding criminals, Kayla had spoken about her concerns to her mother, Evelyn Rodriguez.
The Washington Post‘s Michael Miller wrote this weekend that the teen had warned that illegal immigrant gangs had made her school unsafe. “Ma, they are taking over the school. It’s like they’re everywhere,” she would tell her mother, according to Miller.
All but one of those illegal aliens charged in their murders were classmates with the two teens.
These young girls aren’t an isolated incident, either. In Suffolk County, where these two teens were killed, MS-13 has reportedly been responsible for at least 27 murders since 2013.
How many high school children fed to the slaughter is too many for Pelosi?
“From New York to Virginia to Texas, schools in areas racked by MS-13 violence are now struggling with a sobering question. What to do when the gang isn’t just in your community, but in your classrooms?” Miller asks.
Thousands of students across the nation plan to walkout of school Wednesday to demand better school safety.
How many of them, one must wonder, will die this year at the hands of a criminal illegal?
How many of our children are Pelosi and her allies willing to sacrifice on the alter of political correctness?
The fact is, Nancy Pelosi is dead wrong. It is far from cowardly to enforce our nation’s immigration laws.
It’s our duty as Americans.
Because we owe it to our children.
