Under President Donald Trump’s guidance, the government revoked 165 security clearances from criminal defense contractors in 2017 — who were all hired by former President Barack Obama.
In a report released on Wednesday by the Department of Defense, details showed Obama’s administration had given illegal security clearances to government contractors with criminals backgrounds.
Felons. Foreign agents. And, yes, at least one child rapist. All on Obama’s payroll.
“Of those 165 cases, 151 people had pre-existing issues that they did not disclose and were not discovered during initial checks; the issues were not identified until the investigation was completed,” the report reads.
NBC News released the data in response to an inquiry about their vetting processes.
The criminal backgrounds ranged from questionable financial dealings, to influences by foreign governments, and even pedophilia.
The report explained details of one disturbing criminal that Obama had on the government payroll that was previously charged with raping a child before applying for a clearance.
“The report captured data from 200,000 applications for secret or top secret clearance by defense contractors over the past three years, many of which were not fully adjudicated until 2017. It found that 486 applicants had their clearances denied or revoked,” the report reads.
“It found that 486 applicants had their clearances denied or revoked. Of those applicants, 165 had slipped through the initial round of vetting and been allowed access to sensitive information.”
The Obama administration willingly gave out security clearances to people you would not trust your children around — let alone trust with our country’s biggest secrets.
