The Obama administration is giving consumers a few extra days to sign up on HealthCare.gov in time for health insurance coverage to take effect Jan. 1.
The new deadline is 11:59 p.m. Pacific time on Monday, Dec. 19, says Kevin Counihan, CEO of the federal health insurance markets.
The unexpected extension was announced after close of business Thursday. Counihan said it’s due to strong interest.
The old deadline was Thursday.
The Obama administration has set a goal of signing up 13.8 million people for 2017, a modest increase. So far enrollment is running about on par with last year, but the share of new customers is down.
Open enrollment ends Jan. 31.
President-elect Donald Trump and the GOP Congress have vowed to repeal and replace the 2010 health care law.

We have more than 300 million people
In the usa..how can obama say
Obamacare is a success when only
13 million have signed up.
Cause he is a legend in his own mind. Cannot wait for this muslime filth to leave the now tarnished white house.
How can we afford the huge mark-up this year? I cannot afford $900.00. I lost my job and I have to use my pension early and I am now being penalized by using my money which the government states is INCOME. I worked 38 years for that money and I understand that I have to pay tax on it, but it is not new income and I should not have to use it as income. If I pay for the insurance that leaves me not enough money to take care of my very sick husband and his huge amounts of the cost of his drugs. I am not even able to purchase our Insulin (lucky enough to have family donating). How bad are things going to get before the middle class who now is known as the poverty people got to go through or loose before we are considered the working class who pays for all the deadbeats and illegals. Do we count for anything other than working and giving it back to the government
Second that.
