President Barack Obama’s legacy is under attack.
For years, Obama has made it clear that the Affordable Care Act is one of the proudest accomplishments of his presidency, but it is now gravely threatened by President-elect Donald Trump’s most recent announcement.
Trump selected Georgia Representative Tom Price, an orthopedic surgeon and leading critic of President Barack Obama’s sweeping health care law, to head the Department of Health and Human Services.
That puts Obamacare directly in the president-elect’s cross-hairs.
If confirmed by the Senate, Price would play a central role in Republican efforts to repeal and replace the current health care law. Replacing President Barack Obama’s health care law is “one of the things he’s going to lead the charge on as secretary of HHS,” said Jason Miller, a Trump transition team spokesman.
“He is exceptionally qualified to shepherd our commitment to repeal and replace Obamacare and bring affordable and accessible healthcare to every American,” Trump said in a statement.
With the inevitable attack of Obamacare on the horizon, Democrats are up-in-arms.
Sen. Chuck Schumer, the incoming Senate Democratic leader, said Price has proven to be far out of the mainstream of what Americans want” for health care programs and services for seniors, the disabled and women.
“Nominating Congressman Price to be the HHS secretary is akin to asking the fox to guard the hen house,” Schumer said.
Price’s focus will be keeping government out of our health care. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal over the summer, Price said, “We think it’s important that Washington not be in charge of health care. The problem that I have with Obamacare is that it’s premise is that Washington knows best.”
Along with Price, Trump announced Tuesday that Seema Verma will lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, working alongside Price in implementing a better healthcare system for all Americans.

Do the Democrats live on another planet….did they not get the message in this election that they are tired of higher prices for insurance, higher deductibles (so high that you might just as well not have insurance), and paying for the people who cannot or will not pay for their own insurance (pre-existing conditions-is like not have automobile insurance until you have a wreck and total your car and then you are allowed to purchase auto insurance to pay for the wreck you just had). Pre-existing conditions could have been enrolled in Medicaid instead of the working people having to pay for them. Denying health insurance because of preexsting conditions is like a car dealer refusing to sell you a new car because you scratched your old car !! That clause has been the death of many people who had insurance until the business owner found a better insurance provider but they had people working there with previously covered OTJ injuries that the new insurance co.refuses to cover because its preexsisting !!! And then there’s the employees the must get a physical before they are covered that have no idea they have something wrong until that physical but the insurance company so t cover it as the physical showed it to be preexisting ???? You do realize that the cost of today’s healthcare is party due to health insurance don’t you ??? It is health insurance company backroom wheeling and dealing that started the rise in hospital stays and services !! The hospitals have costs to cover but the health insurance company brokered cutrate fees that they would pay for their coustemers so to make ends meet the hospitals raised the cost of their services to cover the difference !! Now you get a bill from the hospital and also from the doctors and specialist that see you but unless you’ve passed your deductible it all comes out of your pocket and not one dime from the obumacare style health insurance !!!
Put the insurance companies in their place…they are dictating everything from what drugs to take and that they have to be “generic” even if they don’t work the same; how long one can stay in the hospital; etc. Why are they allowed to practice medicine without a license? No one else can. The “affordable” care act is anything but…my nephew saw his insurance go from $1500 a year to $2300/mo. Who can afford that let alone a single income household with two preschoolers! Let me just say that each page, of Thousands of pages of that legislation, has something wrong on it, on average.
That means, there are at least thousand ways the Obama-care went wrong; see 10 worst right here:
1. Hidden Taxes: Normally Tax-package is legislation that is voted in Congress on its own. But cunningly, they hit all of us to pay extra taxes to pay for all those excesses/ extravaganzas, that Obama-care actually is.
2. The main reason, it was put in place against Republicans’ opposition, was to get extra votes in Democrats’ favor, of the 40+ million potential intended beneficiaries.
3. Even the so called beneficiaries are looking to the other side due to negligible benefits available (after $10,000+ out of pocket tag) at an un-affordable price.
4. Doctors are getting over-worked, as there are not enough doctors to see new 10 million+ patients – sickest they come – newly registered.
5. Insurance companies are leaving due to #3 above, as they don’t want to pretend they are covering new patients, somehow.
6. States are refusing to open new Exchanges, due to in-competencies in the Obama-care.
7. We are trying what other countries have (a socialistic health care formula), in an open market-place nation – a gross mismatch.
8. Too many benefits unnecessarily showered in, like pie-in-sky, too costly to be cost-justified.
9. Some benefits did not need a humongous juggernaut like Obama-care; those benefits could be covered under smaller packages, on their own merits. Case in point – Children upto age 26, or pre-existing condition patients, or poor people coverage, etc.
10. Despite Thousands of pages of legislation, too many loopholes left open, that employers started resorting to PT jobs, in lieu of FT ones. Created another whole new set of tricks to beat the system, to game it to the fullest.

When Obama was pitching his thinly veiled socialist healthcare program he told Americans that, ” To middle-class working Americans, you don’t need to worry about subsidizing everyone else’s health care. This program will pay for itself.” Total B.S. and he knew it at the time he said it.
We were already paying for those lazy, welfare sucking leeches’ healthcare in the form of higher health insurance premiums already. These parasites merely showed up at the emergency room for any ailment from hangnails to heart attacks. After they were treated they just failed to pay any of the medical bills, so health insurers built those lost revenues into the premiums for the rest of us. I think we should go back to that system. Under Obamacare these idiots can return time and time again to detox, for abortions and every other imaginable physical and psychological ailment brought about by their own sloth and weak-willed immorality.
At least without Obamacare there is some deterrent to these people abusing the system (and the rest of us) and to assume some small measure of personal responsibility for their health.
The Affordable Care Act has not been successful in making health care affordable. The taxpayers have been stuck with subsidizing many of the premiums. We can do better. Obamacare seems to work on the nation that central planning is the best way to run the health care system. I think our free market system can do a better job controlling health care costs.
Retail and technology are two industries which have managed to lower costs, improve quality and improve consumer options over time using free market principles. If applied to healthcare, we might find the same thing is true for this industry–lower costs, higher quality and more choices.

I had an experience that shocked me recently. A young man who was doing some roof work for me told me that he did not have any medical insurance for his family (3 children) because the payment was over $600.00 per month.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Hopefully, there will be a plan at a reasonable cost for self-employed individuals which will cover their families as well when ObamaCare is done away with.

What right has Big Pharma have to charge $1000.00 for a pill in the USA but only $9.00 in Egypt or to Increase the price of the much needed Epipen by 600 %. They say that it is to pay for research but they spend 19 times more on advertisement than research. They also spend too much to kill the real cures of diseases, natural cures. I thing banning drug advertisement would be a good first step. FDA was started to protect the people not industry like they are doing. The healthcare system in the UK and in Australia is very good.

I have a Muslim friend that is very hard working us citizen. I have known him for over 40 years. One of his children bought a house but recently quit both his jobs and is sitting home alone. Now his father pays the mortgage and insurance and all expenses while his son tries to decide what he wants to do. That concerns me because it is a radical change in behavior.
