An official in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, says a man who fatally shot a woman and ran over two bystanders with his car before crashing into an ambulance has died following a shootout with sheriff’s deputies.

Maj. Bryan White, chief of detectives for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Department, tells The Advocate that the 48-year-old man fired at deputies Sunday night when they demanded he show his hands. They shot the man, who fled into a wooded area near Interstate 10. He was captured and died en route to the hospital.

White says that earlier Sunday evening the man fatally shot the woman and threw her out of a car. He shot and injured another person and ran over two bystanders — including a 17-year-old emergency medical trainee.

The Associated Press contributed to this article.

Sounds like good control by the police to me. Good gun control is hitting what you’re aiming to hit.

Tragic and sad beginning, but a good end result by the brave police who yet again risked their lives to defend and serve.
Glad he didn’t get to go to jail at the taxpayers’ expense for the next thirty years while costing a fortune fighting the death penalty.

Watch, you will see a reprisal, there will be a couple of cops shot and killed just because. What the hell is wrong with people in America today? This is a rhetorical question, there is no answer that will satisfy the question. Still, when I was a cop in the 10 years I worked the road I pulled my .45 twice the entire time. Even after I went into admin as the asst chief, my officers rarely if ever had to pull their duty weapon.
It is a sad state of affairs that we have come to this. This is not the America I had envisioned when I was a kid. Sure times change, but there have been way too many of the minority vote over the majority vote….why? The liberal arts colleges brainwash these kids telling them that to work for a living to get what you want out of life is not the way. You must rely upon the govt. they know what is best for you and your kids! Bullshit, its all a bunch of bullshit, I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. If our founding fathers were around today they would be ashamed of what the United States and its people. We have fallen away from what our forefathers taught, the end result, damn near total anarchy. People I know wonder why I go armed whenever I’m out and about, look around ya folks….this is why!

The language a little harsh but I get your drift. I also see that this is not the America I grew up in. May God Bless you for your service and protection to your community.

I guess we will never know what his motives were, but at least he won’t be harming anyone else.

His motive doesn’t mean a hill of beans. He was scum through and through and got exactly what he needed and deserved. The only down side is that he left 1 dead and 3 injured. Hell’s fire gladly awaits him.
